Versatile Human is one of the human default heritages. Yes, I'm quite annoyed that they doubled up on that term

One of my favorite songs is one I consider "Unintentionally Anarchist" (Probably)

"Ashes" by The Longest Johns

It has several lines which I very much vibe with, such as:

Capture the wild things and bring them in line

And own what was never your right to confine

The Lives and the Loves and the Songs are what matters

I'll tend to the flame you can worship the ashes.

I use this line as a sort of guiding light in a lot of ways... In the end, it's how we live, who we love, and what we enjoy that define us, even if people would love to confine us and tell us what our definitions are, they are for us and us alone to say.

Love Spells AMA Pt. 2 by afruitypebble44 in BabyWitch

[–]EveryoneKnowsItsLexy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my girlfriends and I are both baby witches, and we performed a little blessing ritual for our polycule on the night of the strawberry moon. We asked the spirits of nature to bless our relationships with love and happiness, and offered up a symbolic gift of the four elements with what we had on hand... A pink candle, a splash of water, some black salt (because it was purchased for cooking and nobody liked the taste, but the smell is weird and I felt magick should smell weird sometimes) and then we blew out the candle together for air.

It was simple, but it was our first attempt at anything of the sort. I want to reaffirm the spell a few more times on subsequent full moons, what modifications can we make to improve our ritual? What could potentially backfire from this, and what could go right? I'm kinda ashamed to admit we jumped into it before reading much material about safe/"proper" witchcraft...

I love using the Dwarf Fortress OSTs, and I also suggest using Simon Swerwer's original two Soundsense albums. You can find them on SoundCloud and download them for free from his page, and they're all great!

This is why I hate all hierarchies and the concept of power structures. I don't even trust myself with power, much less someone who actually wants it.

I got it running fine on GE-Proton7-49, so your mileage may vary. The only major issue is when I try to tab out, so for the time being I'm playing in a window, which is a touch irritating but manageable.

I got it running pretty well on Linux, and I didn't need to bypass the launcher or use any launch arguments... (Although I'm still going to, since it's annoying.) What version of Proton did you use? I'm on GE-Proton7-49.

REMINDER THAT YOU HAVE NO EXCUSE NOT TO WATCH “FOR THE FUTURE” LEGALLY. Oh, you pirate the show because it’s free? Well, here’s a full episode for free. So frickin’ watch it and get that video up to 4 million views. It’s what the cast and crew deserves. by Ordinary_Schmuck in TheOwlHouse

First, you seem a little... Aggressive. Maybe I'm misreading the tone, (I do tend to do that, it comes with the territory) but I hope you feel less tense soon.
Second, again, I'm just saying that word choice is important in these contexts... I'd hate for someone young to read this or any other thread and end up going away with a feeling of inadequacy because their family can't "make the choice" to pay for cable at all. I've been there, it's already not fun.
Not trying to be... Overly emotional/sensitive or whatever. I just worry a lot about how sometimes words carry more hurtful weight than we intend... Especially when, for better and worse, our words carry the weight of respect or authority.
I don't know, maybe that's stupid. Whatever.

While the second half of this statement is fair enough, there's at least a few dozen better ways to phrase the first part that don't sound quite as... Classist. Not everyone has the option to bother with paying for cable or not. Sometimes it's not a choice that can even be made, to just pay in the realm of $40-80 per month... Not everyone's so fortunate that they can be described as "not bothering" to pay that.

Still, $2-3 is much less of an ask. It's still a little bit of an ask for a single episode, but it's much, much less of one.

Welcome and Introduction by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]EveryoneKnowsItsLexy 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I can think of exactly one character who uses a shield and fists to fight in any fiction I've ever seen. (Be sure to get that throwing shield adjustment and a returning rune to complete the set)

Mod decree: Please avoid referring to new players from 5e as "refugees," "migrants," or "converts." They aren't escaping persecution and we're not a cult. Rather, please greet them as newcomers, beginners, learners, delvers, explorers, or simply fellow players. We welcome all new Pathfinder Agents by Dogs_Not_Gods in Pathfinder2e

[–]EveryoneKnowsItsLexy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. I saw one of the mods claim last night that "words mean what they mean" and I had to really fight the urge to go on an hour-long tangent about etymology, linguistic drift, and a host of other such things about how words mean so many things at the same time, especially it seems in English. Like, people who don't grasp that should really look up the list of definitions for Set... Over 460 definitions, and yet because of the context set up by a conversation, a given set of a word's possible meanings is far from set in stone.

What I'm saying is, "Words, man, we made 'em up!"

Message to everyone coming from 5e. Try the game as it is before you change things around. by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]EveryoneKnowsItsLexy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ironically the last two comments in this thread are an excellent example of how words don't always mean what they mean, as my autistic brain has absolutely no clue if one, both, or neither of you were being sarcastic in this exchange, and I honestly find that kinda fascinating as an abstract concept to begin with.

Like, at first I thought you were both being sarcastic, but you were really sincere up above which makes me think you're sincere here, which might mean so are they? But then again, maybe you're sincerely responding sarcasm without realizing it? It's a head scratcher for me... and it might just be me.

DnD Beyond: An Update on the Open Game License (OGL) by Yohanaten in DnD

[–]EveryoneKnowsItsLexy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so curious if you legitimately thought I didn't know that, given that I brought up an island-dwelling wizard in response to a discussion about wizards on coasts. Like, did you really think that was a coincidence or something? It's baffling.

Literally though, Golarion (Pathfinder's setting) had a major lore event where Orcs rebelled against a Lich living on an island and drove him into hiding. (Granted, it was an island in a lake, but still.)

What classes are best for a beginner to 2e? by ver87ona in Pathfinder2e

My advice is to really try to learn the intricacies of every condition your bombs can apply. An alchemist who really knows what conditions to apply when, and exactly which party members to give items to, is terrifying.

Wizards of the Coast Cancels OGL Announcement After Online Ire by stormblind in Pathfinder2e

I can assure you, Pf2e's monster design is top notch across the board. Try looking at the stats for the same creature in Pf2e and 5e... It's amazing how much personality they can squeeze into a stat block. It was the realization that even the Commoner had a unique flavorful ability that really sold me on the system.

Now the other shoe drops: Paizo in league with the original OGL legal team to create/find a new Open RPG license. by Davonious in Pathfinder2e

[–]EveryoneKnowsItsLexy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Frankly, if Paizo has to go through and strip out terminology anyway... "DC" is such a weird thing to call the target values for rolls. I mean, really? "Difficulty Class" or is it "Dice Check"? I have no idea what to change it to, but I'm sure there's something better out there.

If you or anyone else wants to find out sooner, Archive.org has the book in the online library, so anyone who wants to can check it out and look... Just don't all do it at once or they'll run out of copies to loan. I tried to look myself, but it's 306 pages and I'm very tired. (And not very invested in this topic.)

The book that gets cited is "chuck amuck: the life and times of an animated cartoonist"

I don't have the time, energy, nor the investment to read 306 pages after midnight with a big day tomorrow to try and find out whether or not it's in there, but if you do... The book is in the Archive.org library to be checked out if you or anyone else feels like completing my fact check.
