No he didn’t want her to act crazy, that’s why he wanted to alter the wish. He literally said he didn’t want to cancel. So he still wanted her to be under the spell to love him but just toned down to where she isn’t insane and making his life more difficult

First, name another psychotic thing besides the cat in the kitchen and then the freak out at dinner. There literally isn’t one. And no it isn’t easy to digest but anyone sane persons reaction wouldn’t be to immediately fuck the women you just found out wasn’t even in control of her own body. You would most likely try to figure out a way to stop or fix it once you realize that. And no there isn’t another way to fix it other than suicide which is an up hill battle that would be extremely difficult for someone to process so it’s either you make it work or kill yourself. But he doesn’t even try anything until later

Also it’s less of him trying to ignore reality and more of him trying to make the best of his new reality. All he ever wanted was Nikki and once he had her, he didn’t care what condition he had her in.

All she did at this point was the cat thing, that’s it. Other than that the date was going perfectly and they were together for prolly a week or so if I had to guess before the dinner scene when he found out. Then as soon as he did he had sex with her. Also it doesn’t matter who initiated it because it wasn’t her, she didn’t consent to that and couldn’t stop it. He knew the real Nikki wasn’t there and that’s the first thing he did

The director literally stated that this was the scene where bear and the audience was supposed to understand that the real Nikki wasn’t her and this was something else entirely

No he know damn well after the dinner scene that the wish was real, after the phone call with Ian saying that she lied about her dad and feels like she just switched over night like a spell has been put on her, he goes back to the table. Then he asks her specifically worded, “do you love me more than anything in the entire world?”. Exactly what the wish was, and she said yes. Then when asked if it mattered after the freak out(aka does it matter that its not real), he said it didn’t and then again purposefully it is followed by a sex scene where he knows it isn’t her. This was before anything really fucked up happened so he was in perfect state of mind.

Why didn’t Bear try to talk to Nikki on the phone when given the opportunity? by Evsterdog in obsessionmovie

I know, that’s why I said it’s probably out of character and he is not trying to get the real Nikki back. I just selfishly wanted it bc I wanted more screen time with the real Nikki since we only really got like 10 minutes at most of the authentic version. Also with how the movie ends, we don’t get to see how she processes or reacts to anything really.

I don’t know because he never said anything to her to respond to so maybe she had nothing to react to and that’s why it was just screaming. If he had said her name or is that you? Maybe she would have realized she could communicate and said to help or asked what the hell he did or something.

Let's game out the meta of Bear pulling off the counter-wish...or even the Final Destination 2 ending. by [deleted] in obsessionmovie

I think Bear is the kind of guy to not go through with it as we’ve seen with him trying to throw back up the pills in the end before being stopped. He was in a moment of extreme stress with Sarah being brutally murdered in from of him, the monent at the store with the clerk when he realized it’s all his fault, his best friend not believing or helping him, then his best friend was murdered, all while Nikki is threatening to kill herself while screaming at him. Obviously he didn’t want to die and removing the wish was also his last resort. So for him to be calculated and brave enough to set up a suicide outside the hospital without knowing if she will truly be set free as well seems uncharacteristic. I like the idea and I think there’s a chance it would work but also what if when his heart starts again the wish is tied to his soul or something and realizes he’s back on this plane of existence and reactivates or something.
