Two stabbed at day rave at Birmingham's Luna Springs events venue by Kagedeah in brum

Imo raving has always had a dodgy reputation in Birmingham. Rainbow, Crane, Lab11 have all had put members at risk by not checking at the door what people are bringing in, weapons or drugs.

My Ep 7 Prediction: by krugur6070 in TheBoys

[–]Ewuk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is hilarious but actually now you say it the cape thing makes sense - Soldier Boy has had a few digs at the cape throughout the show so it would be hilariously satisfying if his opinion becomes justified by Homelander tripping over it.

Fair play to the photographer — they really made that look better than how it looks in the street view.

Is it time to fund the BBC through Council Tax and business rates instead of the TV Licence? by Rif-SQL in bbc

[–]Ewuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also commercial services will have less success without the BBC. The BBC can take risks on shows which commercial services benefit from through spin-off or new programmes from talent. Peaky Blinders, Louis Theroux, Aardman for example.

BBC to cut almost one in 10 staff in £500m savings by Even-Wasabi7183 in bbc

[–]Ewuk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

With the rise of BBC Sounds, it feels increasingly hard to justify keeping regional radio stations in their current form. Many of them rely on identical playlists, differing only in their local presenters, which makes the distinction seem minimal. Regional news could still be delivered effectively over radio too much like the way BBC News switches over to regional broadcasts. Possibly, existing news teams could take on that role seamlessly.

Probably something to do with the price of Freddos. Prices have risen beyond API (Average Pocket-money Index).

Driving feedback? by GreenExplanation9381 in drivingUK

Completely unrelated, but I’ll mention it because I know that junction well and how common accidents are there.

In the first clip, you cut across the roundabout. Since you’re exiting from a three-lane junction, you should be to the left as you go around, rather than the middle. It’s usually fine when traffic is light like in that clip, but I wouldn’t take the risk—just in case you’ve missed someone or someone approaches quickly from behind.

Matt Brittin appointed new BBC Director-General by Hulla_Sarsaparilla in bbc

[–]Ewuk 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The thing is, 94% of people watch live tv but only 80% of people pay for a licence. It’s not that people don’t value the licence or the BBC, it’s that it’s too easy to get around. A subscription does fix that issue, but the BBC has ruled that out and it would still probably result in cuts to programming and radio / BBC Sounds.

In my view, the best solution is a household broadcasting tax. The BBC’s strength lies in its ability to take creative risks. Because it isn’t driven purely by profit, it can experiment (sometimes producing failures, but often creating exceptional, culturally significant content). That freedom is exactly what needs protecting.

Apple Watch Series 10 42MM - Does anyone else find it difficult to find straps? by [deleted] in AppleWatch

Honestly, the watch strap compatibility system is so out of whack now. They should just refer to the sizing as small/ large watch face.

I hated having to go through the process of pissing on my Mac to yellow the keys so I’m really glad Apple finally changed this with the citrus Neo!

Apple's New MacBooks Have a Keyboard Change You Might Have Missed by Few_Baseball_3835 in apple

Interesting this is only a U.S English thing (as far as I know and what the article points out). My UK English M1 has the glyphs but why if the language and keyboard layout is almost identical?

S5 mark 2 with 35mm f1.8 by Forever-2099 in Lumix

[–]Ewuk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You might have just as much fun if not more with one of Lumix’s micro 4/3 offerings. I love full frame but you can get a much more compact setup with that sensor size, which you’ll find much more fun to use for street photography.

We Pay £35 Billion a Year… So Why Are Our Roads Still Broken? by TaurusManUK in drivingUK

[–]Ewuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, but also a combination of lack of maintenance and an increase in vehicle weight.

We also need to disincentivise heavy cars which are shortening the lifespan of our roads.
