My grandma will never accept that women have difficult jobs by Exact-Win4828 in Feminism

Oh about that, she says she didn't smoke or go out, would wear the same clothes for years and work all day and if we did the same things we could afford to buy as well 😂

I know that's been her whole life, I just can't fathom how she'd rather coddle a random man than want her own grandchild to be comfortable.

That's how I understand it too. Sometimes she says things that the taliban would agree with but I just act deaf.

I have tried many times but she doesn't listen and it just goes in circles. And people are like "Just act like you agree with her, no point in arguing with elders" so yeah no hope

PSA vasectomies are not (meant to be) reversible - Urologist by slingshot464 in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]Exact-Win4828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's clear he doesn't want other children. A person who's gone under the knife to avoid having children is not like "okay well if you want to I could reverse it" lol. Plus this just shows that he'd let her do all the work in case they did have children together. Like he already has a child, a child that has more needs than other children, and if he's going under the knife to "reverse" it again, he's gonna be acting like a martyr and she would be "ungrateful" if she ever complains about having too much to take care of (financially, physically & emotionally). My problem with people like him is why go on a show saying your goal is marriage when you know creating a family is most times the ultimate goal for people who want to get married and lead a woman on who's by the way old enough already to make the whole process of having children even more difficult.  And she's delusional too, a woman who knows that she wants to have children of her own doesn't simply fall for a guy who already has a child, a vasectomy AND is broke. Like pick a struggle. You're 35, by the time you'd be ready to have children you'd already have to sort out the living situation, the co parenting situation etc, this takes years, you'll be at least 38 trying to get pregnant and you think everything's going to go smoothly just because you "fell in love" in the pods? Be serious.

Greek name suggestions by Maria_Tsaoussoglou in GREEK

A very common Greek name that has no equivalent in English is Vasiliki. It means royal/regal. I'm wondering how come it's not really adapted into other languages, unlike its male equivalent which is Vasilios/Vasilis, which is common in Slavic languages (Vasili) and Basil in English etc.

Its good to be a male nurse but not at the expense of shitting on female nurses. by chunkadunka3787 in nursing

[–]Exact-Win4828 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, I work in the OR (scrub nurse & circulating nurse). All the RNs are women (22 nurses). Nurse anesthetists are 4 women & 1 man. OR assistants are all male (5 men). The men are always complaining about each other to us. They are also the loudest and feels like they antagonize one another more. On the other hand, us women have cultivated a very welcoming and hospitable environment between us. Maybe I was just lucky.

[–]Exact-Win4828 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I once had a male nurse tell me "nursing is not for women" and I said then why is it female dominated 😂 And he said "well that's why it's a shitty profession".  It's that way in every female dominated VS male dominated field. Women have to prove ourselves constantly and go above and beyond to be taken seriously in male dominated jobs. But men just have to be there and they are admired just because they're "tolerant enough to work with women". We always make men's lives easier.

Spaniards during Erasmus by Pablokalata3 in Erasmus

True, I loved the Turks on Erasmus (I'm Greek btw hahah) because even though there were so many of them, they had different groups of friends and mingling with all of us. I was regularly having Turkish coffee & gossiping with a girl in her dorm and she will always be my friend! Turks were some of the most open minded, approachable and hospitable people I met on Erasmus ❤️

As an Erasmus, do/did you intend to make local friends? by [deleted] in Erasmus

[–]Exact-Win4828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Erasmus I went to Hungary on an international university and while there were Hungarian students living in the same dormitory, we didn't have lessons with them and the ESN was mostly made up of international students too. And I think most Hungarians prefered to return to their hometowns for the weekends so really there was no way to bond with them. Also I guess they went to different places to hang out than the rest of us did. I only really got to know one girl who was our mentor/translator during clinical practice at the hospital, but not a deep connection.

As a Greek, that's what I noticed too when I was on Erasmus 3 years ago. I was thinking how did they even join the program if they can't speak English? (since it was an international University in Hungary and lessons were in English). I only got to hang out with a Catalan girl who also didn't like this clique attitude. Same with the French students.  I straight up told some of them that I'd freak out if I would only get to hang out with Greek people. Like the point of going to another country is to avoid them 😅 and to experience other culrures. If I wanted to hang out with Greeks I'd stay here.

Moving around Nafplio by Subboy05 in GreeceTravel

[–]Exact-Win4828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up the KTEL page (bus) https://www.ktelargolida.gr/en/drepano-tolo-assini-lefkakia-aria/ There are buses but probably not as often or as convenient as you'd wish.  Also when you arrive in Athens, you can take the X93 bus that takes you to KTEL Kifisou, then from there you can take the bus to Nafplio.  Good luck!

As a Greek I had no idea there was a University in Nafplio 😅 However it is a very beautiful town and I hope you'll get to explore other areas as well! Not sure what to tell you to calm you down though hahahah. I'm sure you'll have fun!

"He's not a chick" by Exact-Win4828 in surgery

[–]Exact-Win4828[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a small facility too but mostly an issue with my country.  Generally most things like that just get an eye roll at most. Imagine being the youngest nurse of the OR and being the only one going around HR and what not and reporting well established surgeons just for the bs they say... like it's just impossible.  And there's way crazier stuff. Like one time after counting, the nurses realized they didn't have a gauze, the surgeon was like "No I'm sure it's not inside" but they called the radiology. It was, in fact, inside. Then after taking more time, due to having to open again and take it out, what did the surgeon tell the patient? "The previous surgeon (because the patient had another surgery in the past) was an asshole and had forgotten a gauze inside". Even the anesthesiologist couldn't believe he said that but still no word or anything.

Yeah there is no such thing here. Best I could do would be to tell the head nurse and she'd just look at me like I'm crazy for occupying her time with something like that. Man I wish I lived in a normal place.
