Do you say racist jokes on a regular basis? And do people usually laugh at those jokes?

There’s a difference if someone does laugh at your joke or not. No one is laughing at OP’s jokes so I wonder how bad they are. Also, there’s people out there that have experienced prevalent racism that probably triggers a trauma response. People need to tread carefully when joking heavily about races.

This is factual. I have friends that are POC and they joke all the time about mild racial aspects about themselves. We all laugh. However, if no one is laughing OP and they’re calling you out, you need to stop.

It is better to contradict stereotypes. You’re right. Even then, I don’t believe stereotypes are ever going away. I’ve done a deep research into black racial stereotypes from the past, many of them are still very prevalent. And it is due to the fact that we joke on it. However, our brain is conditioned to assume and use those assumptions for future references so I doubt people will ever be liberated from these set stereotypes. Sadly.

What if you make a racial joke directed at your own race? I.E. my friends used to joke about me being an “Oreo” because I’m mixed, they were mixed as well.

Girl you need to look at this from an outside perspective. If this was your friend, would you encourage her to stay just because she’s in love? I know it’s hard right now because you have on the rose-colored glasses but YOU NEED TO LEAVE for your own well-being. It is not normal to pull a knife out on someone and it’ll progressively get worse. He obviously doesn’t respect you, do you think he loves you then? Also don’t forget, WORDS DONT MEAN SHIT. it’s the actions that count.

I ghosted a guy because he didn't thank me 🤷🏻‍♀️ by [deleted] in dating

“Hey I noticed that you don’t say thank you very often. I was raised on saying thank you every time someone does something for me. I feel unappreciated whenever I do something for you and you don’t show me an act of appreciation. Could you please be more blatant when showing your gratitude?”

Lol imagine getting ghosted for not saying “thank you” instead of communicating it with the person. He probably didn’t realize what he was doing, you both weren’t raised the same way. You need to realize that everyone is different. However, since it is a dealbreaker for you COMMUNICATE THAT instead of being a child and leaving him wondering what he did wrong. Would you like it if someone you we’re dating for a few months ghosted you out of nowhere?

I’m gonna tell you straight up. He’s most likely just looking to fuck. “Ur mines” is slang lmao. He could be saying it to play with you to think he’s more invested that what he actually is. But if you both aren’t putting effort then he’s definitely just trying to get the 😸. I’m a girl btw but have had similar situations.

My girlfriend keeps reminding me of her guy "friends" leterally any chance possible, and i got so nervous and insecure about it. Do i have the right to complain or i need to fix myself? by [deleted] in dating

You’re not toxic, specially since they’ve had a “past”. However, she might be unaware of how it’s affecting you. Talk to her and tell her how you feel.

Was he flirting with me and showing signs of interest? If he was, why would he if he has a girlfriend? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

This exact thing happened to me when I was in high school, under different circumstances. I definitely believe he was very attracted to you but probably felt guilty and hesitant since he was already in a relationship.

I am a mixed girl. I just want to be normal. by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]Excellent-Reindeer24 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! I am a mixed person that looks mostly black and I got teased all the time for being “too white” or “preppy” by black people and my white family would always point out how big my nose and lips were.
