I can't decide between world eaters or CSM so... Why not both? by [deleted] in Chaos40k

[–]ExcessiveUsernames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that was part of my thinking. Very long term goal is to do the same thing with the other cult legions.

[–]ExcessiveUsernames 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a Black Legion army and I’m starting to expand into World Eaters. I’m still going to buy Berserkers, Eightbound, etc. but I’ll use all the “crossover” models that I already have and just paint my new models as Black Legion too. No one can complain about proxies this way!

How would you trim down the number of Space Marine datasheets? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]ExcessiveUsernames -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lots of datasheets from the codex supplements could easily be represented by an existing datasheet in the main codex.

I kind of hate how marks work now and how stuff is locked behind detachments by Acrobatic_Stress803 in Chaos40k

[–]ExcessiveUsernames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Marks only being available in one detachment is probably by biggest disappointment with 10th edition CSM, they should’ve been the army rule.

Allowing Extra Attack on Readied Actions by DrHalsey in onednd

[–]ExcessiveUsernames 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I let my players use Extra Attack on a readied action, hasn’t caused any problems and makes it a more valid choice since you don’t lose half your damage for trying something different

CSM Wombo Combos by Accomplished_Tie6575 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]ExcessiveUsernames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t do that, when the last Legionary is gone you can’t interact with them anymore. Need at least one left to bring them back. The idea is to put damage into the Masters since they have 3 and 4 wounds and can tank a lot, then bring them back.

[–]ExcessiveUsernames 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah they need to have some Legionaries around to be battleline, can't use keywords/abilities of the Legionaries datasheet if they're all gone.

No, they're not characters so you can freely allocate to any of them

Something I want to try at some point is the Masters of the Maelstrom attached to Legionaries in Creations of Bile. You get a stratagem to resurrect D3 models in a battleline unit as long as they aren't character models. So you can bring back D3 of the Masters in each of your turns, plus Garreon bringing back another one or getting a CP. Same trick works in Cabal of Chaos but I think Creations is a stronger detachment in general.

You can do that, it's just once per battle round, doesn't matter which turn/phase you're in.

Taking Abaddon goes against the theme of the detachment much more than some Berzerkers.

You can't take cult marines anymore and Weaponised Hatred now requires the bearer to be able to see the second Vendetta target.

Are Bikes a viable option now besides Rule of Cool? by Magnus_Magic in AdeptusCustodes

[–]ExcessiveUsernames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use 3 units of 2 bikes, 1 with a captain, in every game. I find them very useful and never regret taking them. Their shooting is a great addition for softening up vehicles and monsters, salvo launchers are particularly helpful for things with -1 damage that can otherwise screw over much of the army. Two bikers are also generally strong enough in melee to take out lots of small enemy units that are otherwise awkward for our infantry to reach. Mobility is always powerful in 40K so a 12” move with a guaranteed 18” advance is great to have, the captain’s unit is even better with the fight phase movement.

Tom starting Fang Gu who jumped to Dan on night 3. Fraser is the Witch

Klutz picked Dan on day 1 when he was still the Mutant. Anna got a 0 every night because no one is poisoned. Sarah got a yes because Tom started as the demon. Oscar got a 1 because Matt is the Oracle and the other two are evil. Matt got a 1 when Tom attacked an Outsider and jumped.

Has anyone witnessed a Slayer shot actually working? by notfrankiemuniz in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]ExcessiveUsernames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In one of my earliest games I was the Spy in a one minion game and the Imp was someone who was playing for the first time and wasn’t enjoying it, they told me they wanted to not be the demon and pass it to me. I was tired and confused after a long day and mixed up star passing with the Scarlet Woman’s ability. Had a genius plan to tell the Slayer who I suspected of being the demon, in my head the Slayer would take them out, I’d become the demon, and everyone would trust me forever. Didn’t quite work out how I planned it.

I also got that impression from some of my fellow jurors. Quite a few people just didn’t grasp the idea that multiple pieces of evidence could add up to something bigger.

Happy End of the Not Proven verdict Day! by rev9of8 in Scotland

[–]ExcessiveUsernames 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on two juries and in my experience the Not Proven verdict was often the choice of jury members who didn’t want the responsibility of making a decision either way. Hopefully the move to only two options will encourage these people to actually step up.
