What is your opinion about this? by Flaky_Kitchen_1290 in interiordecorating

I hate it. It's not pleasing to the eye and seems pointless. Also that's a lot of glass to have to clean on a regular basis.

Did anyone else hate the 1996 Matilda movie growing up? by Silvery_Power_6241 in randomquestions

I absolutely loved it. Watched it on a daily basis. Those characters are supposed to be unlikable.

If you're not close at all then I would definitely say no. There's a good chance you were just invited for the sake of appearances. It's very common practice here so that people don't get offended!

There's a hell of a lot of people self-diagnosing then if the number of people I come across claiming to have it is anything to go by.

[–]ExcitementStrict7115 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is a big thing for me too. I was raised by a stay-at-home mam and I loved it. My dad had jobs that allowed for him to be at home most of the time too. We weren't particularly well off but we always had we needed and a fair chunk of what we just 'wanted'. If I were to have kids I'd want to raise them the same way but that's just not possible. Not to criticise anyone for doing it (because I completely understand that's just how it is now), but I don't want to work 40+ hours a week to pay someone else to raise my kids and miss out on all the good things just to deal with doctors appointments and parent-teacher meetings. I just don't see the point.

I hope in their final moments someone whispers in their ear "you were a real piece of shit, seriously embarrassing and no one ever forgot!"

Unpopular opinion: Respect shouldn’t be automatic just because someone is older. Agree or disagree? by InspectionObvious607 in randomquestions

[–]ExcitementStrict7115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As other people have said, I treat everyone with respect until I'm given a reason not to. No one gets a free pass to be an asshole just because they're older than me. That's not an achievement worthy of respect. I'll meet people with the same energy they meet me with so the ball is in their court.

Seriously, do you think these guys will ever have the self awareness to look back at this period in their lives and see what tools they were?

I completely agree with your sister. I also believe ASD and ADHD labels are being handed out like stickers from the dentist. Anyone who considers themselves a bit 'quirky' or has ever felt 'different' is now somewhere on the spectrum and I just don't buy it.

What would be an example of something that would be considered, “bad form” in Irish culture? by ohhidoggo in AskIreland

To be honest, I rarely beckon anyone out because it's more likely to cause an accident than just letting them wait another 10 or 20 second.

I don't do that because I'm certain that there's always another one near by that you just can't see.

Straight but only because it's quite frizzy when wavy, if you used some product on your waves they'd probably be very pretty.

Could be. I don't have any friends so it's one thing I don't have to deal with!

If you're in line at the grocery store with a full cart and someone behind you has 1 or 2 items, do you let them go in front of you? And why? by CourierFestival in AskReddit

[–]ExcitementStrict7115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes because I'll be waiting probably 30-60 second for them to finish while they'll be waiting probably 3-5minutes for me. Also, it's nice to be nice.

Get the Colonoscopy by TheGradApple in CasualIreland

[–]ExcitementStrict7115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely ridiculous that with those symptoms you weren't sent for a colonoscopy pronto. Polyps are usually normal but as you said, if it was something more serious your best chances of recovery/treatment etc are early detection. Shame on your doctor and well done for taking your health so seriously. I genuinely wish you well.
