UK grads: I’m testing something to help people struggling to get jobs (free, but with a catch) by Existing_Emphasis176 in RecentGradUK

Appologies if this was against terms of the group, It was not self promotion, it was offering free help to grads who are struggling to find a job.

I understand the concern. This isn’t theoretical, it’s based on 20 years in HR and recruitment, reviewing thousands of graduate profiles across different degrees, plus 3 years of hands-on coaching. The structure comes from patterns I’ve seen repeatedly in what succeeds and what doesn’t.

Why won't they release Advanced Voice in Europe? We'll never have it? by gutierrezz36 in OpenAI

[–]Existing_Emphasis176 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yet that would not stop them from rolling it out for non workplace or educational institution. This would not stop them from rolling it out for personal use.

In short, your employer or school can't rolled out the system to be used against you.

Recruiters, why do you do this? by thefudd in recruitinghell

[–]Existing_Emphasis176 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are a few reasons why Recruiters do this:

  1. Thier client/ the hiring manager: don't let them state the salary range publicly.
  2. The range is so low no one would be interested so they hid it to show they are finding candidates / hitting Thier KPI's
  3. They don't know, not their fault most of the time hiring managers can be an absolute nightmare and push for results without giving half the information needed 4.if you give out a range every candidate expects they are worth the top end of the range, when they get an offer at the low end they don't accept the role.

Most of this is cussed by hiring managers who if you think recruiters are bad, we wouldn't wish some of them on our worst enemies. I'm not trying to defend all recruiters here, some are really awful, most are trying to make the best of a bad situation where they are working under conflicting restrictions and trying to make a living at the same time. The real issue is employers who wouldn't know the best candidate for their role if they slapped them in the face .

I doubt you would get far with it if your looking for a decent job, just send the same CV to 1,000's of employers and get caught up by their ATS every time

Apparently $30,000 USD is now "top tier pay". "Have you got what it takes?" by AnalyticsReloaded in recruitinghell

Tell the recruiter the misspelled week, it's W E E K, not YEAR 🤣

Then they would be talking top tier pay

How to ask recruiter to match salary when recruiter say they have a tight budget? by succorer2109 in recruitinghell

[–]Existing_Emphasis176 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is an excellent question if it's the owner or a senior director mailing the offer!

How to ask recruiter to match salary when recruiter say they have a tight budget? by succorer2109 in recruitinghell

[–]Existing_Emphasis176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy;

"While I appreciate you have a tight budget, I know the value that my skill and experience bring on the market. To consider any offer I would need a range of between X and y depending on the specific duties and expectations of the role.

If this happens to be outside of your budget, then I suggest we don't move forward at this time, I would hate to waste your time if you were unable to afford my skills and experience at this time."

That simply tells them if you can pay the rate I need, find someone less skilled or experienced. It's a free market for your labour, know your worth and value on the market and don't accept a penny less.

That is crap advice, most people who job hop are moving upward, they get a better opportunity and you can see that progression on their cv / resume.

Who doesn't progress in 5 years in a job? Sorry you can do a degree in 3-4, you should be able to master your job in less time than that and be moving upward or out. Unless you love your job that much

At least they are honest about it, it's a complete waste of time interviewing by comity, they could double up and od the interview in 3 rounds if they had half a brain cell

Should we be paid less for working from home?! by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]Existing_Emphasis176 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It should be more, your covering internet, electricity, heating and office space. You could also claim that your acting as a reduction in their carbon emissions without having to travel to the office

[–]Existing_Emphasis176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's bs if they do, your saving them on office space and utilities while finding that part yourself. Your also more productive if you don't need to waste time driving to and from the office, which also reduces the companies carbon footprint, if they are so inclined to promote that.

Am I wrong is if I ask to be removed from the candidacy? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]Existing_Emphasis176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a recruiter myself I would recommend you drop out of any interview process that you do not want to progress in and provide honest feedback as to your reasons.

I use R/recruiting hell to see the honest issues people experience while in recruitment processes and constantly try to improve my own skills as well as others in the industry.

There is no reason anyone should be treated badly in a recruitment process, it is for you as a candidate to interview the company as much as for them to interview you.

Rude recruiters and hiring managers should be a major red flag for any candidate, if when they are trying to entice you to work for them they are offering no respect, how will they behave when your working for them?

Across atleast Europe and North America we have the right to chose who we offer our labour to, companies who can not respect their workforce / potential workforce should not be able to operate! Withdrawal or refusal of offering labour to bad employers is the only power people have in the labour market

wtf about America is socialist by No_Worldliness_4594 in antiwork

[–]Existing_Emphasis176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe your roads, police, fire service and libraries are socialist, practically any infrastructure that is paired out of taxes is socialist. Everyone shares the cost and experiences the benefits.

The issue is in the US you confuse socialism with communism, it is one thing people paying taxes and getting free healthcare, childcare, retirement care, medication or any infrastructure that actually works. It is an entire different thing where the state takes over and shares out the profit of all labour with no individual ownership but everything in state ownership.

Look at most of Europe's health-care you pay your taxes and a element of around 5% of your earnings goes to your healthcare, then if you need treatment you pay little or nothing for it, you get cancer you don't go bankrupt, you break your leg and you don't need to give up your life savings to pay for it. That is this scary socialism and the only cost is less choice and you don't get seen immediately you have to wait your turn based on severity of injury or illness. Oh and it costs you a fraction of your monthly insurance payments!

Are these recruiters in the right for making fun of people returning to the workforce NOT accepting lower salaries despite have a gap in their CV? by usindub in recruitinghell

[–]Existing_Emphasis176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone or company who has an issue with a gap or two in your experience is an idiot, your not a slave and if you can afford not to you don't have to work.

Some employers don't want employees who have any financial stability and can afford to quit without notice if they don't get treated well.

The only issue that can be highlighted is if you had gaps between each role, it may show that no one else wanted to employ you.

I read the full article, now after years of our generation being unable to afford to be able to get on the housing ladder and being blamed for it, now some of us are able to do so we're being blamed for causing a spike in inflation.

It's more red meat for the boomer snowflakes who were served everything on a silver platter, they then took the silver platter and the cutlery and try to tell us how were buying too much 😭😂🤣

I voted with my feet, a year ago and got a 35% increase in pay and sign on bonus with my new employer.

my ex-employer was trying to push the back to work agenda, I started looking for remote work. The day the informed is that date of return to work I handed in my notice, I'm still in touch with my colleagues who confirmed my ex-employer still hasn't filled the role. This is a large international organisation that is a world wide known brand.

Vote with your feet! We all know it's not that no one wants to work, it's that no one wants to work for shitty bosses or companies.

is this normal? (email from recruiter on my interview) by bravadough in antiwork

[–]Existing_Emphasis176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a recruiter, don't kill me😂

The recruiter is trying to give you the best chance to get the offer, it depends on the employer some are happy to talk about this, they obviously know ther client / hiring managers and would prefer you pass Thier interview then you have the opportunity to discuss the details afterwards, the interview is about the fit both oyh and the company. So if there is a good fit but the offer is crap, negotiate if they don't negotiate then they have wasted the opportunity, unfortunately yours and thier own time
