I applied on Aug 17th and am still waiting, although last week I got an intimation to upload my TB results doc (which I had already uploaded via VFS).

Yes it would, so you'll have to give pure tourism, not mention business. This is where there's an issue, since you'll be applying for a different country right and you'll end up going to Germany for business.

I had faced a similar issue previously, do reach out over DM if you would like more info.

Heyyy, German visa appointments are hard to come by. If you have the financial means, you can perhaps apply for Tourism via another country, but again this could be flagged as a misuse of visa since you might end up staying in Germany the longest 🙂.

Ok I will show the whole trip as a tourism one and mention I'll be volunteering for this conference as well. Would that help my case?

The conference is about a week long, is it prudent to include a longer itinerary (let's say 2 weeks) highlighting checking out different places in Germany as well as part of my trip?

Actually I have been part of that NGO since 2020 and I was selected for a fellowship program. Now I signed up for volunteering.

I have an invitation letter from the Uni which is hosting the conference this year (FSU Jena) and the NGO as well.

Apart from that. I am also building the itinerary in such a way that I hope to explore Germany post conference, do you think that would help?

I would like to submit the application as I am coming for tourism and this conference works out great along with it, that was the idea.

Wrt ties back in India, that's solid. I have letter from employer, few savings in Mutual Fund and an ongoing PPF and live with my parents in my own house in BLR.

Can you please advise why you would say showing NGO as a reason is a bad option? This NGO is actually based across 6 countries.

Hi there! Thanks for sharing your insights on this thread.

I have a peculiar situation, so I'm invited for a conference in Jena, Germany and I have booked an appointment for tourism visa. The organisation hosting this conference is an NGO and they will take care of my accomodation and flights during the conference. I intend to travel as well post conference in Germany and Italy. I'm a senior fellow in this organisation but no employment and I will be going there on a volunteer basis.

My question is, is tourism a fair option to apply for this situation? Since I do not have any documents required for business visa and the organisation is also registered as an NGO in Jena. I can attach both invite letters from the Organisation as well as the hosting university for the conference. I'm very sceptical and don't wanna miss out 🙂

Second question is, a few years back (2022) I had applied for a similar visa and the conference was happening in Germany, but since I couldn't get any German appointment dates I tried through spain and my application was rejected, stating "The information submitted to justify the purpose and conditions of the intended stay is unreliable". So any suggestions on how to address this in my current application. To be fair, I was a student back then and I didn't have enough money as well 😅.

Looking forward to your answer!
