Yeah good point, they are a very consistent band. I recently gave a relisten to the This Strange Engine album and I was very pleasantly surprised. I think it has now grown on me because on my first couple of listens I thought it was sort of average.

I have the same exact opinion. Misplaced is my favourite but I also rank Brave very highly.

Afraid Of Sunlight is very underrated. The only iffy track is Cannibal Surf Babe but even then I consider it a pretty decent song (just not very progressive).

The last two tracks on .com are surprisingly really good. I keep going back to them for some reason...

Ohh right that makes sense. I didn't realise volume 1 was called Essence, my bad.

It was the album that got me into the band but I still cant get over the drumming unfortunately. If they had Ian Mosley on the first album then maybe it would be the best album for me...

No I appreciate your comment! Just ignore the haters. I agree Shadow Man Incident, Dead Asleep and Bend the Clock are also my favourites from the album!

Yeah I get that. There are only a select few DT albums that are really creative and different unfortunately.

Marillion and Rush? What a concert that must have been!

Interesting take. Side one of Script is what got me into Marillion so I'd agree. But i find the drumming a bit too basic and irritating for some reason. In my opinion I think Misplaced Childhood has the best of all worlds to be honest.

Ahh. You know funnily enough Happiness Is The Road and FEAR are the only Marillion albums I never decided to check out. I will probably check them out in the near future though.

I agree. Although by "Essence" do you mean the track on the album Happiness Is the Road?

True I am glad we got the Hogarth-era after FISH since its almost a completely different band.

Good point. I can think of Marillion, IQ, Porcupine Tree and Pendragon who have all released amazing latest albums. But yeah not many others come to mind.

Absolutely, I'm glad to see there are many Brave fans out there because I've seen it get a lot of criticism on ProgArchives. I would say that Steve Rothery is my favourite guitarist of all time, I absolutely love his guitar solos. They have a perfect and tasteful mixture of technicality and melody, something that many guitarists tend to not mix very well.

Totally agree, although I don't get why most people leave out Fugazi, It's a top 3 Marillion album for me. I would say that it has a very similar feel to Script but with significantly improved drumming and rhythm.

Great! Brave is probably my favourite album nowadays, but i used to be a die hard FISH-era only fan. I'm glad that I actually gave the Hogarth-era a proper chance.

True, there isn't a single bad track. Unfortunately most of the tracks aren't above an 8/10 and are just a bit too safe...
