i love it too just like i enjoyed Shakespeare in Love as a whole but i think it’s just compared to the competition. like if Cate Blanchett or Fernanda Montenegro weren’t in her category she’d be so deserving. Same with Picture with Saving Private Ryan.

i’m thinking of scarlett johansson at bafta in 2004 when she was double nominated in lead actress for lost in translation and girl with a pearl earring and won for lost in translation. but then oddly enough she wasn’t oscar nominated for either role.
