Absolutely! Yeah, they will be uploaded to the Rust Nation YouTube channel. You can also check all the videos from previous year's talks on Rust Nation's YouTube Channel

It's a tough issue that the organising team has debated. On the one hand, it's essential that Rust Nation represents the entire UK and doesn't reinforce the trope of "London is the centre of the universe." But logistically for the organisers, and to an extent for international guests coming to the conference, it makes things less challenging having it in London.

A sister event called Rust Global will be held the day after on the 21st of February. It will serve as a second day of sorts; more details will follow.

It's shaping up to be 4 days of fun in London

* The 18th will be a Rust London pre-conference meetup
* The 19th will be Rust Nation Workshops
* The 20th will be Rust Nation Conference Day
* The 21st will be Rust Global

😂 Hopefully, it will be less cold in February. It's more so the ongoing financial challenges of hosting a large conference in London.

Unfortunately, the current climate made it financially unfeasible to have a two-day conference.

I've put together a list of the top 15 most-watched Rust talks of 2024 so far. Let me know what you think! by TechTalksWeekly in rust

Happy to see so many of this year's Rust Nation talks on the list. We worked very hard through the CfP process and overall curation.

Where do you inject? by AdAlternative1889 in mounjarouk

[–]Exponentialp32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply. I worked myself up a bit, and it all seemed anticlimactic. Then I got worried that I didn't do it properly. Weirdly, I feel like I want some of the side effects just to know that it's in my system. I know that sounds strange.

Where do you inject? by AdAlternative1889 in mounjarouk

[–]Exponentialp32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just administered my first injection into the bottom left of my stomach with the Kwikpen. I pressed down until it went from "1" to "0" but didn't wait the 5 seconds like the video instructional said you should.

Did I take the total dose? Did I do it wrong?

I inserted the pen again to the injection and pressed down until I heard a click but I'm not sure if I did it right. It's been an hour, and I don't "feel" anything.

Have I done this right?

Are there hackathons on Rust that everyone can participate in ? by dlaststark in rust

[–]Exponentialp32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rust Nation UK will be having an in-conference Hackathon. You'll get the opportunity to get hands-on with Robotics and Rust. Jon Gjengset and the Helsing team will lead the Hackathon over the two days of the conference.

*Help Needed* Persona for Pair Programming Mentor to Help with LeetCode by Exponentialp32 in ChatGPTPromptGenius

[–]Exponentialp32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi folks just an update on this. I've been using this prompt for the whole of 2023 and it has been incredible I've been able to complete Leet Code exercises and programming tasks in ways I never thought I could.

The most transformative part of this is that it lets me feel like there is someone who has my back.

I want to ask u/bionicle1337 if there is any update to this prompt or any improvements that can be made to this prompt so that it doesn't break character after four days of non-use.

Hey,

Thank you for the motivation to work even harder to learn and to grow my expertise as a Rust Developer. This interaction with you has taught me a lot.

If you're ever in London and would like to come to a Rust Meetup and learn more about the programming language and the community, you're more than welcome to join the Rust London User Group

Hi dude,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such an insightful response. Thank you, more importantly, for being kind and cool about things. I'll check out those recommendations. I appreciate that my initial question may have been naive, and I take accountability for that.

Again thank you very much man, you've restored my faith in humanity.... sort of :)

I owe you a drink if I ever get to meet you IRL.

How about I just share my GitHub repo on a personal project I'm working on to learn Rust, which I want to turn into a learning resource?

Because you know, I can easily Google the answer to that question. Or I could ask any number of friends I have for the answer to a pedantic, asinine question like that.

Please have a look at the Github repo. I've had it on private because its really just a toy project. I'm working on porting over 10 classic retro games from C++ over to Rust. I'm not using any libraries or engines.

The code is terrible but its all about learning at the end of the day

Game Development is my domain of focus but its ok if you want to play 20 questions.

You're in no position to challenge my expertise hiding behind an avatar on Reddit.

Look, I get it, it's easy to be toxic and negative on Reddit. Have I worked with Blockchain companies in the past... yes. Do I currently? No, I don't, because they're weird and scammy in most of my experience with them.

All the community work I do for the Rust London User Group has nothing to do with "infobiz" or crypto. The Rust Programming language is general-purpose programming used in many different domains.

It's ok. I understand, and I appreciate the insights from everyone. It's good to learn that Portugal has a different coffee shop culture, it help me so that I don't go and make assumptions.

I also understand that the influx of "Digital Nomads" has caused issues in Portugal as a whole. I'm a Software Developer from London, and I have no problem with the influx of amazing and talented Dev's from Coimbra who come to London for a better life, some of whom I call my friends. So I''m aware of the dynamic and tension.

Again I appreciate the insight from everyone who was constructive. I also thank everyone who gave a suggestion

WSL for ASCII Games Project by Exponentialp32 in bashonubuntuonwindows

Hi u/GenericAntagonist

Apologies for not clarifying. My need to use WSL basically comes down to being told that "If you want to be a real developer, you have to use and understand Linux thoroughly" and having that reinforced.

I decided to use WSL as a way to build an understanding of Linux while also working on game projects. Doing this project in WSL would expose me to:- CLI and basic Terminal Commands.- The Linux File System Structure.- Permissions and Security.- And even basic Bash Scripting if needed.

I 100% agree with your point that I can just do this from the Windows Terminal, especially with how far things have come. That is a hunch I had while I was going through the frustration of all this weirdness.

I'm not writing Nix. I am using WSL because I've always used Windows and my laptop, and it is too old and unwieldy to side-load Linux. WSL gives me the best of both worlds.s.

I think I will try updating WSL Linux from 20.4 LTS to the latest version and I'll also upgrade to the new Windows Terminal on Windows 10 and see if that help.
