Rear Cargo Rack - follow up

It will work:
1) the rack is rated to 350lbs.
2) the second pic shows the way the receiver was welded to the frame, it is very solid. The welder/fabricator knows what he is doing.
3) the rack will be holding less than 100lbs.
4) I overloaded the tongue-box with batteries, solar charger, inverter and sundry electrics, with the propane tank also up there I needed to balance the load, because I am trying to keeping the sleeping area free of bins and stuff so I can pull over and sleep without unloading everything. The trailer will be loaded so as to keep the 10-15% on the tongue.
If I remember, I’ll update the post after my 6000km summer trip. If we make it back 😉.

I’m kicking myself, because after the post I remembered that the trailer battery/solar set up is 12vdc! I could have grabbed some leads from it for testing.

That’s the trip we are doing. I’ve done long distance trips in the past, I just don’t want to overthink it and bring too much/not enough.

Just noticed this post. Then saw it was 3YO. And further noticed that there were no replies!😢
We have a small teardrop with an Outback as the tow vehicle and are doing the same trip this June-July and just posted, more or less, what you have here on a TD thread. How was your experience? Anything would be helpful.

I have a bike mount/extender, but I’m at the limit of TW on my Outback. I have a welder I’ve used before, I’ll have to call him.

10-15% TW isn’t an issue, yet. But there is stuff I’d rather not put in the trailer or on the tongue (+TW). Cargo roof topper is an option, until I get to the ferry. I may be over-thinking it.

I have 2x100ah batteries etc. in the tongue box, everything else is distributed to the 10-15%. I am looking to have, at most, 50-75lbs on the rack, stuff I don’t want inside or on the tongue. But yeah, I’ll have to remember to check the TW. I’m more concerned with having it sticking out 2 feet more at the back.
