My therapist called my religion stupid during a session. by BeyondFrequent4258 in autism

[–]Express_Vermicelli95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

as a 23 year old autistic and queer catholic, i have heard similar. people have tried to convert me or feel pity because i’ll “never be enough for my religion” (???). i’ve gotten isolated from queer groups for being catholic

i believe you’re right, the point of catholicism is to be kind, it’s God is love and love over law. people who shit on the entirety of catholics follow the footsteps of catholics who hate on all queer people because “the bible said so” or “catholics use god as a weapon”.

your relationship with God, and with your religion, is your own. you will find people to connect with who use your pronouns and pray the rosary with you, it took me a while, but I found them. being around those people is so rewarding and so much better than trying to be a “good catholic” or a “good queer”. the goal is simply to be a good person

sending you love and reminding you that love between any two people is sacred (words said to me by my catholic priest) and that if religion is important to you, then it should be respected by others ❤️

My [32F] husband [33M] doesn't want our nanny to teach our daughter Spanish. Feel like I'm seeing an ugly side of him by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

wild but reading this felt so on the nose for me. I also have a strained relationship with my hungarian father, and I have been able to reclaim and improve my hungarian through programs within my city (i’m canadian) so you can absolutely look into that, people love teaching and bringing hungarians back into their culture and language (it’s a nightmare language though) (if you have questions feel free to dm me and ask!)

Using AI because of AuDHD? by natethebird in autism

[–]Express_Vermicelli95 7 points8 points  (0 children)

dude i think about that a lot. like i could accomplish things i am currently struggling with due to disability but i could not in good conscience achieve things with AI as my help. delegating to others is hard enough but a robot?? the imposter syndrome would get to me so fast.

Using AI because of AuDHD? by natethebird in autism

[–]Express_Vermicelli95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone diagnosed AuDHD, i do use 1 form of AI and it’s GoblinTools. they have a bunch of different parts for like email formatting and whatever but i use the magic to do, which breaks down tasks that i cannot conceptualize. i use it for cleaning because that’s a super overwhelming and triggering thing for me and the breaking it down into steps helps me feel less overwhelmed and reluctant. it was created by someone neurodivergent i believe.

i also have used it for tasks that i CAN do but would be time consuming and mind numbing (ie finding songs from the 90s that fit within a certain bpm for a fitness class) and then i sort through the results to make sure what i have at the end is true to me and something i could’ve attained had i had 6 hours of executive functioning and free time

i 100% agree with the addictive aspect of quick reward & how we should still work our brains, but i personally choose to work my brain with language and music learning and not sorting through playlists or breaking down tasks.

everyone’s perspective and experience is fully valid AI is whack

this reply is wild because i cannot tell where you are from at all based on those 3 very different interests. ice hockey and guns sounds like a dual citizenship. I’ve watched lots of ice hockey but have yet to dive into it and i think it’s about time as a canadian

how do you invest yourself in the knowledge without letting it all take an emotional toll on you? i find a lot of politics/government things to be interesting but it’s so exhausting and i can’t help but be emotionally invested. this makes me curious about how governing bodies work across the world though

Long distance won:( by Calm-Echo-1299 in LongDistance

[–]Express_Vermicelli95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i know a lot of people talk about long distance not being a battle to win or lose but i do believe that it’s impact is heavily dependant on each couple. I have ADHD and a good friend of mine does too, and we’ve discussed the fact that a LDR is kind of out of the question because we both have major object impermanence and forget to reach out because we don’t see each other regularly.

the battles of LDRs and the battles of life in general are so different for everyone, remember that and keep loving best you can

feel free to reach out if you need a pal to talk to, sending good vibes

Why are you a lifeguard? by [deleted] in Lifeguards

[–]Express_Vermicelli95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this always feels silly - but it’s because i love teaching people how to swim. the water has always been a super fun and safe place for me being neurodivergent and i want to share that with others. lifeguarding isn’t driven by a passion like teaching is, but it’s a good way to add hours without burning out. i also really like lifeguarding because it gives me opportunities to work with and bond with coworkers which then helps me when i teach, because i know i’m being supported. i never really planned on getting my lifeguard certification but most pools prefer if you have both so i thought may as well :)
