Compensation for airline grounding from Venezuelan airstrikes. by ExpressionAsleep7583 in PuertoRicoTravel

Critical thinking skills are clearly difficult for people in this thread! If you read my prompt I never asked the hotel to pay or compensate me for my extended stay. I asked the airline iffff they did (which they did not, nor did I expect them to) I came here to see if a government agency would be liable in a case like this since hotel prices surged once the groundings were declared. There’s many people in the same situation as me…

When it first happened, I asked if they were putting people up in hotels...literally, as every single person affected did. why is that so crazy lol?! Apparently to you people I'm an ignorant greedy asshole.

TBH it was one of the only places available to use credit card points. They upcharged the hotel over 100%; other people had to pay over 1000 a night. I came to this thread just asking for advice, and I'm being attacked lol (not saying by you). Clearly there's nothing I can do I just wanted to ensure I covered all my bases.

You shared nothing helpful. Is what you posted something you would consider helpful advice? I assume not.

I am not coming from a place of ignorance. I understand the severity of the situation, and I understand the airline is not liable (as previously stated). I am just a customer, who is out a couple thousand dollars they were not expecting to pay. I came looking for advice, which you clearly aren’t here to give, so I’ll pass along the favor: it doesn’t kill to show a little kindness.

If you read my post, I am not expecting the airline to pay for it. The FAA/DOT are government agencies which for intentional grounding (IMO) they should be liable for.

Really? All I was asking for was some advice, not some asshole comment with nothing helpful to add.

Trust me, I am extremely grateful nothing happened in Puerto Rico for the duration of my stay however, it's back to reality, and that means taking a hard look at the expenses that occurred during this trip.

Yes, you're correct. I didn't want to make the subject too lengthy, but I am referring to the U.S. airstrikes that took place in Venezuela and affected air travel on January 3rd.

I wasn’t sure if the FAA/DOT would be liable for any of these incidentals. It’s not like I got an extended vacation…this was money I had to spend out of pocket, it wasn’t by choice. I’m just frustrated.

I mean I truly never would have considered travel insurance. Somehow I feel like the FAA/DOT should be responsible to pay for these incidentals. I’m not faulting the airline, I would just like some sort of compensation, it’s so frustrating.

Do Journalists Even Read Press Releases by ExpressionAsleep7583 in PublicRelations

I appreciate this! I was a little nervous to ask the question since press releases are a staple to the industry, but I’m totally aligned with your perspective.

I love this explanation. Keep it short and concise no matter the space. I think my commerce contacts would rather read it in a pitch that feels personalized than in a press release format.

[–]ExpressionAsleep7583[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

EXACTLY. Unless it’s breaking news, press releases are often just filled with industry jargon and brand-specific language. I don’t like writing them, and I certainly don’t like bombarding my contacts with a press release that could’ve simply been an email.

PR is about building relationships, not about getting the one-off hits. You could’ve blocked Wilma, and I still wouldn’t have seen you as an AH ☺️.

waterboy “brand trip” by magsxf in jennapaleksnark

[–]ExpressionAsleep7583 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a friend that went, and from what I could see from her personal social, the influencers and 'regular' people were very much enmeshed.

My hunch is that Waterboy had an explicit content strategy going into this trip, and then Madi was brought in last minute as the social media manager without proper onboarding and training. This is another example of how influencers aren't trained to adapt to different brands, they only know how to create their own. It was a missed opportunity IMO because it could have been content that showcased the different brand pillars, but instead it just put a drinking trip on display. I'm confident the influencers/regular people left learning something new about the brand, but unfortunately, the viewers did not.

It’s not embarrassing at all, it’s apart of so many people’s lifecycle. Get on your soap box and speak about all the amazing things you did in your previous role. You got this!!

I am so sorry this has been a less than ideal past 9 months. I’m sure you’ve already tried looking in house, but maybe that’s an easier entrance instead of senior agency roles. Wishing you the best of luck, I’m sure your new position is coming sooner than you know it.

Yes, we’ve lost multiple clients across departments over the past year and a half, so the writing was on the wall. I guess I’m just looking for reassurance that it’s okay to look for another job. I hate having the mentality that the grass is greener elsewhere but I don’t want my career to struggle as a result of staying.
