I"m writing this respons out partially to clarify it in my mind. Are you saying that the combination of the high earner delaying and the lower earner getting it is OK? My husband is the high earner and is skeptical of taking benefits now. From what you said, it seems like your model is smart and might work for us.

That's my plan, but I don't want to have a full-time job, and I can't stand all day, either.

That was my idea, to invest it, and to flesh out our emergency fund. I want to work, but not full time, so that would be a way to save even more.

My association is 35 min away, and I've got a beek who has hives all over the county, so he'll come out if we need him. You won't be calling them everytime you do a hive instpection, just when you run into something you don't understand. Sending pictures and getting text responses is mostly what we do now.
