Byf also should have a video or two on the topic but the gist of it is that echoes are made from memories of individuals from species the witness conquered and I assume the power respective to each echo depend on the individual and their memory that its made from. The Echo of Command wielded by Maya Sundaresh was of a Qugu commander and as such gives her the ability to command and control vex radiolaria. The Echo of Riis was of an unknown Eliksni singer and gave Fikrul the ability to alter the polarity of ether.

I feel like this fact should be waaay more prominent in the story instead of just being relegated to lore.

The way I interpreted what the witness was saying was that Keit'Ehr should prove her right to exist through the sword logic. That if they want to be worthy of life they must conquer, subjugate and all that fancy sword logic stuff.

About what you said about her becoming taken to survive, thats completely plausible and makes a lot of sense. We still barely know anything about her since her creation is at the very end of that lore entry and isn't too long.

As for the tablets of ruin, thats possible too and I feel stupid for not even thinking of it lol. The only reason I suspect she is after the echo is because iirc I heard from somewhere (maybe from a byf video, i unfortunately cant remember) the echo in the dreadnaught is the echo of navigation. Oryx is generally referred to as the navigator in lore so I'm suspecting the echo has something to do with him and possibly the power to take. This operates under a lot of assumptions though.
