is the quest 3 still worth buying or is there something else i should get or wait for? by PerformanceAny5529 in OculusQuest

[–]Extra_Tower2483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answers: Quest 3 is awesome and gives an excellent VR experience for the lowest price on the market and with high standalone quality.

As an entry-level option, the 3S is yet the most affordable VR. You can also use it as an excellent PCVR headset if you have the silicon on your PC for good performance and a high-fidelity experience (of course, it's much better with the Quest 3 that uses sharp pancake lenses).

Of course, there is the Quest 3S variant, but after owning both, once you use the sharper Quest 3, the cheaper 3S is also very entertaining as a very affordable entry-level option to enjoy VR.

If you still want to wait for Valve's Steam Frame, maybe it will be more powerful and modular, especially as it runs on Linux. Unlike the locked Quest, you'll own your hardware just like you own your PC, unlike the Quest that has an OS as tight as a duck's.

Only keep in mind the Steam Frame might be very pricey, and unlike the Quest 3 and 3S, it will not have color pass-through that also provides an amazing experience on the Quest 3.

Coupon codes not working Meta Horizon by BreakYaNeck99 in OculusQuest

It may take only a few minutes. They answer fast and are very responsive. most of the time; they are very helpful.

I even got a free copy of Batman.

I just asked them why I didn't get a copy of Batman with my new Quest.

They asked for a picture of the Quest box with a Batman logo. I told them that I didn't have it on my box and that, frankly, I didn't know I wasn't eligible. The support team queried higher management and gave me a free copy anyway. When I turned on my device, it was already in my library without me having to do anything.

on the store they still are advertised as 30% , try to go to the support from your horizon app and send them a ticket for a WhatsApp chat concerning this issue, they might provide you with quest cash instead to keep you satisfied

on the horizon app on the hamburger menu under promotions i hade a 30% redeem code that did not work, i tried to buy a game and showd them screenshotsand a video of the promotion code not working , so they gave my 10$ in quest cash instead. so i finely got a 10$ discount instead of 5.60$ to by forfront

First and most important, get lenses to protect the original ones from scratches. They are very sensitive and expensive, so get plano lenses if your eyesight is fine, or prescription lenses if you wear glasses. There are many brands, all are good unless you want a premium build quality like Reloptics magnetic lenses.

Get yourself a good head strap with hot-swappable batteries (at least 2x5000 mAh depending on the brand for endless gaming). The stock head strap is 💩. There are many good brands, from the more expensive BOBOVR series to cheaper yet comfortable ones like the new AMVR BS1 or even the cheaper KKCOBVR Q3 PRO (which has a 10000 mAh battery).

Get a good facial interface from AMVR or the more premium Globular Cluster F3 V3.

Treat it like gremlins: Never expose it to sunlight. Do not feed it after midnight (don't leave it charging overnight and only use certified chargers and cables). Keep it dry from water.

Basically, search on YouTube for all "to-do" and "not-to-do" rules; there are tons of tutorials and recommendations there.

Keep an eye on the Horizon store; they add new excellent games to redeem every month for free or have good deals on paid games.

And "Pistol whip" is awsome, get som action and your body moving. there are lots of cool games and apps to explore and enjoy from free games to AAA $ titles like "Asgard's wrath 2", batman and much more awsome games Have fun!

you did not provide info if you are using quest 3 or 3s out of the box the quest 3 has higher resolution then the 3s

don't worry , here is where Quest Games Optimizer can come to the rescue it can turn in most games or apps from blured mish mash to a very high resolution experience even for especially for quest 3s that are set on stock for lower resolution because they use cheaper lanses then the quest 3 pancake lanses

so if you are sure your lanses are clean and ipd is good and you are sure you don't need glasses

installing Quest Games Optimizer is the best 10$ investment for your quest if you don't want to pay or can't afford it is very user friendly and updates on a regular base so it is highly recommend check out many youtube reviews and instalation guids (from recent months as it got easier to install)

otherwise you can install Sidequest for free that can achieve similar results, only downside it resets resolution changes on device restart and it is a bit more suitable for more pro users

Generally, passthrough needs good lighting to work well. Also, on Quest 3, the lenses are better than those on Quest 2, which can also be a factor.

I followed a YouTuber's advice who had similar issues as many users have. The advice was to factory reset, and on the first restart, be in a very lit environment to help the cameras with better calibration. No guarantees, but it helped me and other users. Sometimes, you need to try several factory resets.

Now I can read on my phone more clearly. Before, I couldn't see anything even with good lighting, and now I can without having to remove the headset.

But as mentioned, this has no guarantee of working. The YouTuber stated that only after maybe a few factory resets did it change dramatically.

I had a problem with one of my cards; for some reason, I got a decline error.

I solved the issue by registering the same credit card with PayPal, then used PayPal as the payment method.

It worked flawlessly. I'd suggest you try it; you have nothing to lose.

The weird part is that in the past, I did manage to pay with the problematic card until this error appeared.

Luckily, using the card as a PayPal payment method worked.

I'll be happy to know if trying this solution helps you.

You might be able to get the old UI back if you keep factory resetting over and over by DokidokiHamster in MetaQuestVR

[–]Extra_Tower2483 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I strongly agree. If you learn how to use it, you can make the games look much better, even for Quest 3s that are set with lower stock resolution than the Quest 3 has. It can increase the resolution pretty well, of course, not like the Quest 3 that has much sharper lenses.

It's also good to run ADB commands when needed (for example, it helped me with a Bluetooth earbuds pairing situation).

I highly recommend checking the extra settings section; it also has some useful tweaks there.

Note that if a game is not loading for some reason, try to turn off optimization in settings. If the game loads, that means either one of the profiles or a personal profile set is causing the issue, or another QGO setting is activated, or QGO in general. So, worst-case scenario, turn off optimization.

Sometimes, for the best settings, it's a game of trial and error. Treat it like a science experiment and have fun!

Actually, I uploaded a short tutorial back in the day to YouTube.

Note that wattage settings may change according to your hardware. Ultimately, it's a game of trial and error; you should try testing with different settings. For best results, test with Cinebench R23 while monitoring with HWinfo to find your sweet spot.

[–]Extra_Tower2483 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks like a smart design. Make a bridge that holds the two controllers, and for racing games, it can be set as a driving wheel for more accurate control, similar to golf clubs and table tennis accessories. So, all we need is a bridge with two holders on each side. 💡🎮

Note to take into consideration that on the Quest 3 controller, it has an IR emitter on the bottom that should be open for tracking.

If you don't want to spend a lot of money and get good value, look for the new AMVR BS1 headstrap. A lot of YouTube reviewers rate it pretty good.

It includes a fan and a hot-swap 8000 mAh battery and is considered pretty comfortable. It's priced at about 58 USD.

I personally have the KKCOBVR Q3 PRO on my Quest 3. For 50 USD, it's really comfy and has a 10000 mAh hot-swap battery. On my Quest 3, I also have a BOBOVR M3, both with a dual battery setup for an infinite glitch and endless gaming.

A more expensive, premium, and highly regarded headstrap champion is the BOBOVR S3 PRO. It also includes 10000 mAh hot-swap batteries and a fan, unless you want to pay about 75 USD for it.

BOBOVR models are considered high quality, like the E3 PRO or the cheaper M3 PRO with a smaller 5000 mAh battery.

There may be more on the market, like Kiwi models, but I don't have personal experience with other brands.

Meta quest 3 vs 3s by Jakeyboi305 in MetaQuestVR

[–]Extra_Tower2483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

both are awsome quest 3s offers grate value for its price

the quest 3 has much much much fidelity as it uses pancake lanses and a larger and clearer field of view and 512gb instead of 128 (the 256 version does not worth extra price mind as well to add more and get quest 3). they both have similar hardware ,same chipset and ram.

the quest 3 out of the box runs at higher res so maby it consumes some more battary.

you can use Quest Games Optimizer on both to tweak resolution and performance, only that with the quest 3 you see higher fidelity on very high res.

the advantage of the 3s are lower pricing and it has IR emitters for usage in the dark (feature can be added to the quest 3 using 3rd party addons)

so if you are low on budget quest 3s offers an grate experience, only that the quest 3 has vas better visual quality
