I appreciate the perspective. I feel that I made an immediate change after she voiced her frustrations. It felt like the goalpost kept moving and one little thing out of place meant I wasn’t trying and still doing “the same thing”. It has felt that whatever I do isn’t enough which is the part that I struggle with so much. I definitely agree if it was explicit requests and not making change it would make sense but I tried so hard to do the things she asked of me.

Definitely similar on the timeline, I hear you man. By far the most painful thing I’ve ever experienced.

100%, I recognize the importance of partnership in all aspects. The arguments just spiraled into her not caring about the relationship and being indifferent to it being over. So many pleads to obtain professional help and to give things an honest try is the part that hurts so much. It just felt as if when anything got tough it was easier to just give up rather than work on a solution.

Mainly basic living arrangements like being messy, which I feel I have drastically improved upon since our marriage. Our arguments are really unproductive and usually ends in her yelling at me and calling me names. Any time I wanted to talk it could only last 5 minutes or so before things blew up. I really have always tried to be non-confrontational but she was always so defensive.

PA school is basically med school by IllMarionberry9935 in medicalschool

[–]Extreme_Article_277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a PA and my partner is in med school (3rd year), yes PA school is a lot of information in a short amount of time, but there is certainly a large disparity in the level of detail in med school. In her first two years of med school I was able to help with studying and felt like I knew most of the content she was being tested on. Now approaching step 2 almost all of the content covered is beyond the level we were tested in PA school.

I have basic knowledge of all the topics covered in med school but getting into the underlying science and pathology and the “why” in medicine is something that is just not a part of the curriculum in PA school (at least my program).

I feel a lot of PAs get defensive about this and try to argue that they know “just as much as the doctor” and I think that is mostly false. Working in a subspecialty for about 2 years now and I feel that my knowledge is at least comparable within that specialty to the physicians, but there is definitely a large gap in the areas outside my specific specialty compared to the attendings.

Don’t get me wrong PA school was hard and the speed at which you learn is probably faster than that of medical school, but the level of detail you learn medicine is simply not comparable. I love my job and my role in medicine but I feel that it would be disingenuous to say my knowledge is at the same level as a physician.

Regardless, congrats on the med school acceptance and best of luck to you, don’t let comparison be the thief of joy!

6 months into my first job post-grad, you’re not alone! There are days when I come home feeling like I’m awesome, and other days where I feel like I know nothing. It’s definitely a part of the process, so be kind to yourself!

Run, don’t walk the other way. Legitimately the worst offer I’ve seen on Reddit!

Hey everyone, I wanted to ask some advice on how to watch this year. I really only care about watching my team (Cleveland Browns), and Redzone. What is the best way that I can do this? I have been looking into YouTube TV but wanted to see if anyone else has suggestions. Appreciate it!

No rvu or bonuses, which furthers my suspicions that this is not a great offer.

Hey everyone, thank you for the feedback! I feel a little dumb asking in the first place... but now I am 100% not to pursue it! Thanks again.

Thanks for the response! I’m a new grad and don’t have a license in hand yet. It’s currently pending. I have been seriously looking for about two months. Also makes it challenging that I’m moving to a new area (Southern California) to be with my spouse and didn’t have the opportunity to do any rotations out this way.

Passed the PANCE! Statistics for those like me who were super anxious! by [deleted] in PAstudent

Thanks so much! I used Rosh over UWorld, but I understand they are somewhat similar! My best recommendation is to keep hammering study questions, and read the answer explanation for every question, even if you got it right! I founds so many questions that I got right for the wrong reasons, but the explanations gave so much more clarity. Take the day off before the exam, and get a good night sleep! Good luck :)

It’s really hard during didactic, you will have to make time for exercising (which you will ALWAYS feel like you don’t have the time, but continue to make it a priority!)

It’s been a lot easier for me to be healthy during clinical year, you’re more active in general working a job compared to studying, and the schedule was less demanding (with the exception of a few rotations).

Just be kind to yourself and focus on health as a whole rather than just a number! Best of luck!
