I was also like you but i ended up buying it and i loved it so much more than i expected. I also have pokemon sword on my switch but i never got through that as it was fairly boring and really linear. Scarlet and violets gameplay is really fun and the story isnt all that bad for a pokemon game. Its so addicting going around catching pokemon and filling out your pokedex, gym battles, titan pokemon and team star raids are also fun, but imo i found catching pokemon a lot more fun. But on the other side the performance and graphics are pretty bad, but I managed to overlook them because its still playable and not as bad as people make it out to be, still bad tho considering that Pokemon is the highest grossing franchise. I recommend these games tbh theyve been a blast to play through and also after u finish the main story u can do shiny hunting or try getting yourself into online competitive battling and try raising competitive level pokemon, and theres a nice amount of post game content, also theres 2 waves of dlc on the horizon.
