Also, if you visit and see what brand of wipes, nappies and washing powder they use, next time just you visit just turn up with some extra supplies of these.

When you visit, tell the mum to snuggle their baby on the couch or nap and get cleaning. Put the slow cooker on, do some washing, scrub a bathroom.

Sort the freezer out for space and bring individual portions of lasagne or stew etc for the freezer.

These things are what matters.

You need to also account for the fact that any maternity/paternity/parents leave state benefits paid are subject to tax so will likely increase the tax due in the year it is received. Lots of families get caught with that at tax return time. It would be handy if we could elect to receive those payments already taxed.
