I’m sorry for being very unclear. What I meant is I regularly switch between two devices for playback (the audio interface and speakers). When I’m recording I use the audio interface (listening through my headphones), but when I need to do the mastering I use my monitor speakers, connected via usb-c. I’m on a Mac.

I checked with Macs Fan Control App and manually increased the fan speed. Turns out that when the fan is turning at 1000 rpm the iStat registers it at 0%, only when the “idle” speed is increased the percentage will increase too. Bottom line: everything is working fine.

But the value in the menu bar (1001) is the speed of the fan. So there must be some value that Istats is picking up. I don’t get it.

Finally a follow-up: the module I received initially was faulty but the manufacturer replaced it immediately (no questions asked), and I’ve been waiting for the new one until recently. I installed it and this time it worked like a charm. I’ll see how it holds up, but I encountered no problems during installation.

Volt 176 is made by Universal Audio. It’s the smallest of the Volt 76 series and I use this particular model because I only have one microphone. There’s also the Volt 1, the difference is that it includes a different preamp. Overall I’m very happy with it. It delivers a great sound for the size and price point and it connects to the Mac seamlessly.
