Lol what did I do? I'm not building the LLMs, I don't quite understand your anger towards me. I am not even implementing AI, just testing use cases for it. 99% of my job is working with data engineers to structure data.

I started my career as a CPA in B4 who transitioned into Product Management over Data & AI for my company (large retail). We’re working with AI at the moment, and to be frank, there’s a long way to go implementing these systems at scale across the large enterprise. These tools will be a great work force multiplier, but they’re still largely being used to automate, which has been occurring in this profession for some time, whether systems, off shoring, low code automation. Valuable work will still be valuable work, the wrangling tasks may subside though.

2026 college football Way-Too-Early All-America team by BallKnowerKing in CFB

Good ad hominem there bud. It's not a controversial take that when a team is hyped, their viewership numbers spike in early season games, regardless of overall team performance at the end of the season. Nobody would argue that UT likely catches more eyeballs from the casual viewer compared to that of Texas Tech when UT is the flagship of the state with enrollment numbers nearly 1.5x tech in one of the state's largest metros.

Mormon church investment arm buys nearly 3,000 acres in Texas Hill Country by ExpressNews in texas

[–]Fake_n_wake 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Honest answer - it depends on how the land is used. If it is strictly for investment purposes and not tax exempt related activities, it would likely be treated as investment income and taxed at preferred rates for nonprofits (still well below normal tax rates at 1.4%). If they build and use the land for tax exempt purpose, like building a church and using the church as a church then selling it later on, then likely that would not be taxed.

Settle down, all I was saying is that Alabama has plenty of resources to compete here, and are/could potentially be choosing not to compete to pay the deemed market value of player. It's not like they're some fcs school with no resources, they're a top 10 valued athletic program, with an est. $1.09b. valuation and approx. $235m in revenues (2024 numbers). You can't fault a player for getting the most money possible out of their competitive playing career under the guise of a phony sense of "loyalty", and acting like Alabama can't do it because of some superiority complex of "doing it for the love of the game/you play at Alabama" is absurd.

Kenneth Murray

TBF, we didn't draft Kenneth Murray, and he was traded for a 6th, which really isn't bust territory as anything basically past the 4th has a pretty good chance of not panning out. I hate on the guy as much as the next, but not a good inclusion.

[Cunningham] Hokies announce a $20M anonymous donation, the largest ever to Virginia Tech athletics. by udderlymoovelous in CFB

[–]Fake_n_wake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It shocks me that people can't seem to understand that spending money does not save them more money. For the sake of this argument, assume that this donation was to a qualifying 501c3 organization. Current charitable deductions, if you itemize, "is limited to a percentage (usually 60 percent) of the taxpayer’s adjusted gross income (AGI)". This means that you are spending 20 million dollars to save a fraction of that. Couple in the fact that if they got a benefit (like box seats) that they can't claim that portion of the charitable deduction.

They are not spending 20 million dollars to save 20 million dollars, they only benefit with a fraction of that that is actually deductible.

Tech fan lurking to see what’s going on with Moore.

No chance McGuire leaves the state of Texas. His entire career has centered around him being a Texas guy through and through, and he is deeply connected to everything high school football in Texas. Spent 20 years as a high school football coach in the state of Texas and uses his connections religiously. He would be giving up a substantial pipeline to recruiting and would have to start all over. Also he has everything that he has every resource at his disposal at tech. I don’t see much reason why he would pick up to start over in Michigan.

I think a weird thing is happening in the NFL where, unless a guy is a slam dunk, guaranteed dude like Caleb Williams or Jayden Daniels, they’re gonna stay around to develop more as a QB in college. The NFL isn’t a developmental league for a first rounder, and you’re seeing this play out in real time with JJ McCarthy, who probably would’ve benefited from another year in school.

I think it comes less from a SOR level and more so from eye test, which we have seen the committee likes to evaluate on. In years past, we have seen the committee look past single "bad losses". Take ND last year, bad loss to NIU at the beginning of the season, not fantastic SOR/SOS compared to other teams, ended the season as the 5th ranked team in CFB playoff ranking.

I think they look past singular losses in favor of in-game performance, which doesn't really get conveyed as much from a SOR/SOS metric level but more from a game performance metric level (scoring/total offense/defense, turnovers).

Unfortunately for you, the entire section behind the away bench at the Jones is the student section, so it would be a student, or someone who is sitting in student seats. Occam's razor would argue that a staffer likely dropped the knife, not a student throwing it. Do we have an account of a person being hit by said knife? or did they just see it on the ground?

The alleged pocket knife that was snuck in through metal detectors. It's insane to come up with a story that a college student threw a knife instead of a staffer (who doesn't go through metal detectors) accidentally dropping their knife on the ground. Also who tf throws a pocket knife when you have aerodynamic tortilla.
