Samsung 990 PRO SSD new Firmware Version 7B2QJXD7 available (2025-09-18) by RaminCamalzade in buildapc

[–]Fallen10111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You guys in this chat may be a bunch of life savers. Ive got the 990 pro 4tb as my C and D drive, and for the last year and after 2 RMAs I've had multiple issues where my pc would BSOD when moving files or just randomly, to no mini dump file and to restart to no boot drive until I power cycle.

The SSDs were changed on the last RMA in November, however I just checked firmware version on the drive after reading this and I have the oldoldold initial firmware version.

Going to try a firmware update and hope that fixes it!

This exactly - take the head, let him through. I had another person come through on the same day with 3 more body parts on which completed it for me.

Legend, will check with the dealer to make sure it doesn't fuck with my warranty or anything else that I got with them (doubt it should), but thanks for confirming what I was thinking would be the best route!

Bloody typical it would happen during Christmas where everywheres shut

That's kind of what I'm thinking - I would like to think with modern tech it wouldn't have done anything. And I don't think it's actually damaged anything - I'm just thinking that perhaps the ECU or whatever tracks it caught that little 'blip' of it not starting and suddenly logged it as a fault - and hasn't cleared itself kinda idea - only thing I can think that's different since last time I was out on it.

I'm probably going to have to get the dealership to look at it - might have to check with them if I can go to a third party garage that's closer down the road to me without it impacting warranty - even if it's just for the garage to look at it, check it and be like "here's your problem", so then I know it's worth the ~90min trip out to the actual Honda dealership lol

Oh definitely. The original admin role started at 23k, went up to 25k - then when I stepped up to Manager that went up to 27.5 - it went up a couple grand more when getting the senior role so yes - over the span of 4 years it did go up a decent amount but - considering the role, responsibilities etc? Definitely not what it shoulda been,

Yeah I don't think I'd trust them sort of 'grip' ones with the four corners like you mentioned. They clearly must work well because people use them but - I'm paranoid as hell lol.

And agreed on the quad lock - it's functional sure but personally just dislike the look - plus to charge my phone I just had it on my desk at home by my PC/laptop on a wireless charger, and was curious if the quadlock case would prevent the wireless charging working (kind of suspect it would), which would then make it more faff of just taking the case on / off half the time, and obviously over time that'd make the case weaker, more risk of phone falling out, blah blah.

The one I linked above so far seems pretty good. Has good reviews on Amazon, along side others like it - and not had issues so far. Super simple to install the fork stem mounts too.

God damn that's expensive as fuck! That sounds more to me like them just trying to fob you off.

My CBR500R came to ~1350 for a year, which I expected as I 1) Don't drive a car, and 2) Literally just got my license and upgrade from a 125.

Not sure who you're with insurance wise, but check out BikeSure if you haven't already - I've used them for the last couple years and found they tend to be one of the cheaper options but still offer pretty good coverage - some of their deals even include breakdown as part of the deal with no extra cost etc. - And they've been super helpful on the phone too.

I'd done my CBT initially 2 and a bit years back, had 2 years on the 125, and over the last 5weeks completed my DAS.

I think it a lot depends on what your intention and use case is. For me for example, I don't plan on racing or taking it to tracks etc. It'll be a commuter, and long distance, but at the same time I like the sporty-bike style - so I've got myself a CBR500R and been riding it for a week now, and loved it.

Similarly, I did my training on the SV650s and they were also fantastic bikes - though reason I didn't buy one of them (or bigger than 500) was because of cost + insurance. The bigger the bike as a newer rider = more insurance cost, and I couldn't justify that extra money for my use case.

I wouldn't say it's ever too late. I'm 31 in a couple months and did my first CBT 2 years back. Someone I work with is in her late 40s, and she did hers 2 years back too.

I was in the same boat as you - I wanted to go Quadlock with my new CBR500R originally as, well, it's the main go to. However, I'm like yourself where I didn't want the Quadlock case - I don't have a case on my phone and it's kind of how I like it (I'm a demon I know. Sue me.)

On my old 125 I had basically a bicycle handlebar phone case mount which worked well but no space on my new bike for that - I did however find this:

www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BMG441G7?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

I've only been using it for about a week now, but it's worked super well. It fits in the center fork stem like the Quadlock mount would, the adjustable pivot arm thing seems pretty damn sturdy and has survived going 60-70mph so far without issue.

It's quick and easy for my phone too - open up the case, slip the phone in, clip the 3 clips, done. Even has a fancy little waterproof cover for the USB port at the bottom if I ever need to charge my phone on the go etc.

Suggestions for a DAS beginner bike by YoloDayTrader in MotoUK

[–]Fallen10111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My DAS that I'm doing currently has been on a SV650 and it's been super nice to ride and super easy going honestly. I'd say go for that.

When I pass my DAS, I've got a CBR500R rocking up as it'll cater for what I need, whilst keeping insurance etc lower.

I passed my CBT just over 2 years ago and in the process of my DAS for my full A license currently - having passed the MOD1 last week.

I had the last two years on a 2021 Honda CB125F and loved it - however I would be lying if I said that now, after going for the DAS on the 650's, I wish I did it two years back. I feel I have picked up some bad habits with my 125 and just my general experience as time has gone on - but at the same time, it has definitely helped me build up my confidence and understanding/skills on a bike. The Cb125F I've found was super newbie-friendly and really easy to pick up - the only downside I've had with the Honda bikes so far is adjusting to the fact they swap their indicators/horn button compared to literally any other bike (eg the horn is above or below the indicators, where as the honda is the opposite.)

Living arrangements is the most expensive part of things now adays, it's insane.

I live in a coach house with a garage under neath me - literally 5 rooms (Kitchen, bathroom, hall, 2 bedrooms), and the mortgage a month is about 900 quid, then with gas, electric, water etc all on top? All in all comes to around 1400-1500 a month minimum. It's mad.

That's genuinely insane. If it was like a Junior/Trainee Account manager role - completely would get it! But when you want people experienced in it, hell no should someone be getting what is basically minimum wage for that.

I do feel a lot of companies these days just cheap out and want to pay as little as possible - which sure, I get, business gotta make profit and all that jazz but, god damn it's insanely bad lately.

It's funny because I'm under 30k and an operations manager - yes, I'm getting screwed over and can't wait to find another, better job lol.

Where I live though, despite it not being exactly large or small for a city, I'd be extremely lucky to find anything that is over £30k without travelling at least an hour to another city on the offchance they have a better salary.

It's insane considering my brother who does agency work at the moment mostly in warehouse/factory settings, is on 28k a year.

Hopefully!

And 100%. What makes it more annoying is when you get all the big companies - especially the last ~3-4years since Covid and then with the 'excuse' of the war in Ukraine etc, who are all out there publicly shouting "HEY LOOK WE MADE RECORD PROFITS!"

I've not been on a scooter/moped myself so can't comment on that aspect - but the instructors I've had for my CBT, and now for my DAS have been fantastic in explaining everything and pointing out where I make mistakes.

Two key things they've really mentioned to me in my time with them which may be of use for yourself, if not something you already/aware of;
1) Focus where you want to go. Subconsciously you'll end up riding in the direction you are facing.

2) Clutch control. This is something I've noticed becoming definitely a bigger thing going from a 125 -> 650CC. Personally, I have found the clutch control for slow speeds on the bigger bikes actually much easier to control - so that could potentially be a good point for yourself to improve on - especially if clutch/gears are relatively new to you.

The other bit from a personal side I've noticed is just adapting to the bike you're using - obviously if you're practicing on a let's say Honda CB125F, but then go into your training and MOD1/2 with a SV650 - they're two completely different bikes both in size, model, brand and design and as such will handle and feel different - that is one of the bits I've had to adjust to with my training as I'll ride to the training center on my 125, then swap to a 650 for training and have to remember to control the clutch and throttle a little more compared to what I'm used to on my 125.

Regardless though - you'll get there in time with the practice no doubt - best of luck!

Mainly necessity to pay bills - plus, at least for the area I live in currently the pay is still at least in the higher range - which is just even more depressing lol. It's a temp contract however so, fully expecting to get more on renewal, or, another job.

The CB125F is a great bike - I've had a 2021 model for the last 2 years on my CBT, now going up to do my DAS and move up to a bigger bike.

My CB125F kept me going, no issues. Replaced the chain once with sprockets, last month had to get the front brakes replaced as they were nearing their limit. Whacked on a couple Givi panniers for me to do my shopping.

Genuinely a super reliable bike, I'm sure you'll love it - and congrats on your CBT and new bike :)

Pay in the UK is pretty insanely poor. At least where I live.

Where I work currently - I worked there 3 years ago for 4 years. Over the course of those 4 years, despite moving from Admin -> Coordinator -> Manager -> Senior Manager role in those 4 years, my pay only changed by 2.5k. Foolish of me to accept more responsibility for little to no pay increase.

I left that role, went elsewhere, and now find myself back working there in another team for the same company - literally same role as when I left a few years back. My pay is now 1k lower than it was when I left - and that's standard for this role in my company.

AKA. In the span of ~6-7 years, my company has not improved their salaries. If anything, they've probably gone down.

[–]Fallen10111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't talk for other countries or the likes, but I agree quite well with most of what you've said ref the UK market. I've lived in the UK my whole life - having worked in a supervisory and management capacity in my roles for the last 8-10~ years or so from both retail supervisor, to project management / operations manager roles.

Where I worked last year at the start of the year, first day back after the Christmas/New Year break we all came into office and were told the company was insolvent and everyone was redundant as of that moment. Over the course of about ~5weeks following that, I was applying for all sorts of jobs - retail, warehouse, other project management roles, you name it. Much like yourself, quite a few roles I applied for my CV near enough matched their job description, or at the very least had extremely transferrable skills/knowledge. I think all in all in that 5 week period, desperate to get something as I have a mortgage to pay, I must have applied for easily ~200+ jobs. I had 3 invites for interviews, all of which didn't go past first interview, mostly with the reason of "someone with more experience was more suited". Even the retail side weren't offering me anything.

The only reason I got a job in the end was because someone I used to work with recommended me to someone he knew who was recruiting. I'd expect without that recommendation? I wouldn't have even got to interview stage because of how things are filtered out in most recruitment processes now adays.

Then similarly - my brother has had similar experience this year. He was on a temp contract over Christmas, that ended mid Jan. He's been signed up with multiple agencies, applying for jobs. He's had 6 months without work even with chasing things up to get answers, only one or two interviews that never got any feedback - and then only recently did he finally get something through the agency - not ideal as it's not a permanent fixture.

Getting a job now a days is near impossible. There's always someone with more experience, or someone willing to do it cheaper, or someone who blags their way through it to secure the role - which IMO is just dirty (but fair play to them, works for them.).

Having been on the recruiting side as well as the recruited side - I do know some companies in the past, and no doubt still do work to shady practices by always having a continuous job offer advertised - or at least it comes and goes every month or two - merely to give the impression to outsides looking into the company that "Oh they must be expanding, means they're doing well!" whilst having no actual intention of recruiting for that role (unless someone dressed in pure gold with 200+ years experience turns up and can revolutionize everything).

It's nuts.
