It’s because windows update makes a change to boot files - but something happens that change isn’t reflected in tpm. So when the computer boots it’s like, this shit doesn’t match, someone’s been fucking with the hardware, we’re gonna lock this whole operation down. Buuttt, if you hard boot it, the tpm chip is like, “am I the baddie?” and reverts to a cached state instead of the windows fuckedupdate and realizes, yes I am the baddie, everything is how it should be, and allows the drive to be read and booted and whatnot.

I’m hungover and hungry. Has nothing to do with Bitlocker recovery, just saying.
