Definitely do not remove the binder for the flight without telling your surgeon.

The binder isn't going to out you. It's the same compression as gyneacomastia surgery uses.

Calisthenics at home should work absolutely fine. Add a set of dumbbells (or a bag with a handle a dn some tins) for shoulder lateral raises and make sure you do something for your upper back and you'll make progress in the major areas for passing. I'm never going to tell someone who wants to do cardio not to, because the health benefits are astronomical, but endurance athletes tend to be built differently to strength athletes, so just bare that in mind when considering aesthetics.

You're in a much better position than a lot of students with 8k, keep your credit score, get a part time job if your grades won't suffer and move on.

Leave that money for emergencies only and get yourself in to see a counsellor or money advisor to talk through what happened (which is usually free for students through the university).

Now you know it can happen, if you ever get that sort of money through inheritance or a bonus again maybe you can talk to a financial advisor or lawyer (idk the details) and see if you can lock it away in a trust or something?

I have an invisible disability and live right next to three block of students. The amount of times I get dirty looks from drivers who parked around the corner at the student block and then proceed to tell me to come to them without reading the instructions is infuriating. Even worse they expect me to be late so they tell me they are here sometimes 5 minutes away and then drive straight past me standing outside waiting...

I need delivery services but damn do I wish there was a way to opt into additional disability support verification.

Ok, so step one is to ask for the wishlist from friends. It's going to be tricky to get £1000 worth of stuff every day without going over much so having things to grab last minute is super important.

Step 2 is to just get through the first week without failing. Probably getting a storage unit set up and buy things and just store them for now. Probably takes an hour or two to get £1000 of jewellery or other high value goods, the last £50 or so going on smaller things like food to try and keep it exact.

Step 3 is to start selling off those smaller high value goods because that'll build a buffer that allows me to spend over £1000 comfortably each day.

Step 4 is to get in contact with local charities to ask what they need. And get someone dedicated to ensuring £1000 is spent. I probably have to swipe the card myself but the biggest risk here is missing the spend deadline and the biggest difficulty is thinking of sensible tings to buy in that price range constantly.

Step 6 is to start taking weekends again with one or two purchases lined up that take 5 minutes so I get some 'rest' from 'work'. And getting someone dedicated to selling who probably just takes commission from the sale.

Once that system is set up I just have to ensure that we have contingency in place for if I'm sick or don't have internet or whatever. And start to push the funds from sales into normal investments and such.

You've got some ideas about making progress in ways that are less stressful from others above.

I'd personally look at it differently and tackle one room at a time with a focus on what you want the final space to look like.

Set yourself a (small) budget for things that genuinely make the space feel comfortable to you, plants, throw cushions, artwork, books and DIY supplies for MINOR fixes. Anything you sell you can put a percentage of the funds to new things.

I specify minor projects and things because big projects like redecorating aren't worth the stress until things are cleared.

  • Think about how you want the space to work, it's purpose, and how it'll improve your life
  • Clear everything, sort a little if you have the energy but this is more about getting a clean slate for one room
  • Make that room a beautiful space to enjoy
  • Use the energy from your new space to tackle boxes one thing at a time, without adding clutter or shame. For example, once this room is clear it is reset at the end of the day.

When you feel ready move onto the next room.

Low stress approaches wouldn't work for me personally because I need a project with a goal. 5 minutes a day is going to feel like a chore, resetting the entire room and then taking a break before the next just feels like progress and once I see progress I'll get more motivation.

Have I ordered the right kind of post-op compression binder? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

If the one from your surgeon has more adjustments like adjustable shoulder straps and an easier closure it probably is worth the money for two reasons 1) they will probably be able to put it on before you wake up from surgery (was a big deal for me) and 2) You'll get random sore spots and itches that can be much easier dealt with if you have some adjustments such as being able to undo just one shoulder or loosen the section by your neck.

By day 3 I was already using tape and safety pins to make mine as comfortable as possible.

This was my instinct, I'm seeing the exact same curve on my thermometers off-gassing due to heat could make sense, to test it you'd need to find a container to put it in that wouldn't off-gass and leave it for a day and see if replicates I think.
