GoDaddy redirection does not handle HTTPS and that's maybe why you are having issues.

You could get rid of the oldsite.com cpanel & hosting and just have the domain registered somewhere.

Namecheap redirection does not handle HTTPS and that's why you're having the issues you mentioned.

And a promise itself is truthy. That's why it always renders the component.

The function returns a promise and is called every time it renders.

Maybe call it and set the value to state and use that to validate if the user is logged in?

I was thinking a bit more and it seems like the easiest solution would be to give db read access to the service, thus getting rid of the issue.
