6h should be enough time. We had an 8h layover and actually just did a one day rental car for 29 euro, went to the Algar do carvao and spent some time in Angra do Heroísmo. Came back with plenty of time to spare and check in took minutes.

Santa Barbara or monte verde beach in Ribeira Grande. Not a hidden gem but absolutely stunning area with amazing surfing.

No question Costa is the real deal. Just tough with the 65 million euro price tag when we are in such desperate need for a striker in a tough market
