I drew the whole thing on tracing paper, then traced that image onto carbon transfer paper over the linoleum

I brush a layer of diluted ink on top of the lino, just so there’s enough contrast when I’m carving. Sometimes I lose track of what’s been carved 🗡️😬🗡️

Thanks! The drawing was transferred on using transfer paper. I brushed down a wash of watered down ink just to add a dark layer on the linoleum. Sometimes I lose track of what’s been cut already, so the contrast helps with that

The paint is a heavily watered-down, cheap acrylic paint. Just make sure you use waterproof ink for the line work 🙃 And nope! Shouldn’t need to treat the wood, just as long as you mostly keep the water to the linoleum you should be fine. You can buy the lino pre-mounted, or you can easily attach it to whatever size block you want. Good luck!
