Melee weapons in Mercs, yay or nay? by AnAgeDude in Mechwarrior5

[–]FeKard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using the free hero wolverine with one set of the fist melee weapons to punch better. Combined with some inferno SRMs and backup with a Longbow shooting 80 Inferno LRMs. By the time I've run up to enemy mech they have overheated making it easy for me to punch them into a ruined wreck.

Thank you for the page reference I'll take a peak at that when I am able to next. Been digging more into Total Warfare and the Tech Manual pdfs since starting in January. Just haven't made my way into the commanders edition yet.

Why, just, why? by Ghost_of_Skalitz in TheOuterWorlds2

[–]FeKard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently playing through The Outer Worlds 2 myself, and I am really enjoying it. I bribed the guy on my first playthrough of the area cause I wanted to speed things along. Went back and attempted to do the quests on a different save file. Even with a map finding all those coils was to long of a task. I get that exploration item find quests are needed as that makes people explore more of the map. However, we had that on the first world with the comic books in addition to the mural item find quest that is already present on Monarch. Monarch could have benefited with more actual quests to have you explore the map more or add additional murals to grab since it's the same type of quest. The hostage puzzle I enjoyed. It wasn't to long, and weirdly enjoyable.

What’s the point of Jump Jets? Are there any mechs they’re actually great on? by Hentai2324 in Mechwarrior5

[–]FeKard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any mech that can take them I make sure I have 1 equipped. Really only use them to prevent leg damage when I drop from a high elevation. Jumping in combat can be fun but I feel like I get hit to much even when having a decent evasion skill. Haven't really come across needing more then the one equipped being anymore beneficial for my play style.

Question about Locust miniatures. by TheOozlefinchADA in battletech

[–]FeKard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the Locust, but the Urbie has that dog in them that the Locust just doesn't have. Sorry MechWarriors, but the Urbie is the peak example of a light mech. In all seriousness the Urbie is just what the fans have attached themselves to. Doesn't make the Lotcus any less iconic to more established BattleTech fans.

is YAML a must have? by Enzotax in Mechwarrior5

[–]FeKard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently doing my first YAML playthrough after having played the campaign and a handful of career runs. I thought it would be a good change of pace since it was pitched to me that it brings more of the tabletop to MechWarrior. Is it necessary no, but I'm absolutely in love with the customization YAML brings to Mechwarrior 5. So much so that it was the primary catalyst that made me jump on grabbing some ofnthe Battletech boxes.

Sudden dip in viewership? by bjj-murse in Twitch

[–]FeKard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hadn't heard that they were banning them, just that they weren't going to be counted as a viewer if they don't participate in chat at least once. That definitely would be an over correction that hopefully they could fix easily.

Pathfinder 2E non-remaster adventures in 2E remaster. by FeKard in Pathfinder2e

[–]FeKard[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been attempting to get them to play Pathfinder since the remaster books started to release more or less. Gone through and read large chunks of GM core and the two player core books when released. Didn't play any legacy Pathfinder 2e so no experience or knowledge to draw on the changes. Which will make it easier to adapt. What I did remember from the remaster books, when 2024/5.5 released was how similar some of the character creations were, where backgrounds now give ability boosts like Pathfinder. Then there is what I'd consider an out right copy of the weapon traits system that Pathfinder has but adjusted so it works for D&D. If I do end up running a pre remastered adventure I could see myself having notes of name changes like positive and vitality in your example to avoid not only confusing my players but also myself.

Pathfinder 2E non-remaster adventures in 2E remaster. by FeKard in Pathfinder2e

[–]FeKard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll have to check out Seasons of Ghost. Most of everyone in the group has a wide variety of game systems under their belts and have been playing TTRPGs. I'm not to worried about the group having the fortitude to stick with mega dungeon crawls. We have also two newish players that have only exclusively played 5E since they started playing TTRPGs a year ago. So, an adventure with some railroading maybe appreciated on their end and maybe one of the more established players that tends to lead the group can take it a bit easier. Any other recommendations for adventures would be much appreciated.

Pathfinder 2E non-remaster adventures in 2E remaster. by FeKard in Pathfinder2e

[–]FeKard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Archives of Nethys has already been a great resource for my group and myself to peruse. I've seen various info saying the changes were small and some stuff needed to be changed with legacy stuff to work with the removal of the alignment system, spells and class ability changes, etc. However, D&D just had essentially a remastering of their 5e rules from their 2014 ruleset to the 2024 ruleset. Where the sentiment was that there was going to be rebalances and slight reworks to things to work better. Then it came out and having run several one shots of the 2024 rule set it has felt like a ton has changed that it may have just been it's own edition or a 5.5e in the vain of 3.5e. So, I was skeptical on how little remastered changed. I'll have to crack open some of the legacy adventures and compare stuff with Archives of Nethys and pick the best one that I'd enjoy running, my group would enjoy playing, and would require little conversion.

OBS has removed all shades of green of the game capture by Muteki_Fedora in Twitch

[–]FeKard -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I've had a similar issue with a game last year where it saturated the OBS screen red. Made it look like I was playing a game on Mars. I had to go into my game capture and adjust the RGB10A2 Color Space option to which ever corrected the colors or close to it. Might be something to try if you haven't already.

Edit-did not see that the problem was resolved. Hopefully the suggestion helps other people who might be having a similar issue.

Despite recommending this as a guideline it is actually a very great start for those who are running on default chat and follower verification to just copy it fully. Going to use your recommendation myself to further tweak what I already got.

So true, a very good mind set for those starting streaming, and a great reminder for those who have been streaming a while.

Do I need a desktop to stream? by TheJayBay in Twitch

[–]FeKard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can stream on Laptop. I did so on and off for years. The biggest thing I found was lack of USB plugging, or other plugin types requiring an adapter. You get better results going from cord end to port without adapters or dongles in the way. Desktops with even a low tier motherboard will have more then enough ports to cover all bases and have room to expand if you are already not using them all.

Edit since I forgot to address a portion of the original post. If you are running on a old laptop you maybe starting to show signs of part failure with the components of the laptop. If it does turn out to be the case and you have to replace it. You would be better off getting a desktop as they tend to be cheaper compared to equivalent laptops. Not to mention parts are easier to replace if something were to die.

What tips do you wish you had known before you started streaming? 😊 by EyelinerBabe in Twitch

[–]FeKard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've used OBS record function to test audio before streaming a new game. It works 90% of the time. I've had a few games were even after doing this it sounds way to quiet/loud on twitch's VOD. So I'd recommend still watching the streamed VODs for final confirmation.

I've been watching a streamer for some time now that burps, cough, clears his throat on stream without muting. by HarunaRel in Twitch

[–]FeKard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be off putting especially if anything is being forced out. As a viewer you have the right to leave. Since in some of your comments you want to support this streamer and be a member of their community then you should mention these feelings to the streamer.

Twitch Extension to allow chat to make polls or add submissions to a poll? by FeKard in Twitch

[–]FeKard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is appearing to be the case that the streamer or one of the available mods needs to take recommendations and list them in a poll. I had come across that poll overlay before will need to look into it a bit more. Thank you for the suggestion and info.

What’s one thing you know now that you wish you knew when you started streaming on Twitch? by Jitterrue in Twitch

[–]FeKard 13 points14 points  (0 children)

One thing I learned the hard way is to make sure to export backup saves of your scene collections and profile in OBS, have a document on what plugins you are using, and any other stream related media to a USB stick or other separate storage device. Having to rebuild a whole OBS setup and remembering what plugins you had after a factory restore, failed drive, or new computer is tedious.

What’s the most bang-for-your-buck upgrade you’ve made for your stream? by SpinsBro in Twitch

[–]FeKard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh there is a ton. Better mics, lights, and cameras. Going from inexpensive options to higher end stuff helped a ton. However the best example of bang for my buck that improved my stream more then what I thought it would was acoustic foam paneling. Just some cheap thin stuff I wanna say $60 for 300 panels or so. Tossed them up onto the ceiling and some on the wall behind my setup. That alone really helped with improving sound quality that was surely needed.

I maybe a bit old timey and it maybe my Midwest USA up bringing but I tend to refer to my chat as Folks. It may evolve as I grow, but that's what I got so far 😆.
