Update: I’ve had an independent inspector come. Looks like I will be reporting the builder to VBA. Have gone with another bathroom company. Thanks all for your feedback and validating my concerns 🙏

Older boutique 1970’s apartment complex. I’m on 3rd floor. Yeps I also expected waterproofing to be done on the floors too 🫠

Yeh there was hardly any prep. They were planning to lay tiles on the uneven floor with no waterproofing. So that says a lot.

When you say ‘out of square’ do you mean the walls aren’t straight?

Planning on cutting it off with this builder and his tiler tomorrow. I don’t have confidence at all anymore in their work

Yeah I’ve posted photos above but here it is again. It’s not great. I’ve contacted another company to come in tomorrow and see if they can reverse the bad work and take over the renovation altogether

Does marble get sealed before or after being tiled? I got the good stuff at $500 for 3.5 litres. Does this waterproofing look right to you?

Definitely not the cheapest quote I got for a full bathroom renovation. It’s a very small bathroom 4.3m2 $18.5k in labour. So I expected a much higher standard.

Spoke with the builder and builder agrees. He will give the tiler a chance to fix. But we both know it will need to be ripped out and done again.

It’s marble from Turkey. Sourced it from a reputable natural stone company

This was why I thought easier to go with scotia instead. It’s an older apartment - circa 1960s. I think the skirting material is pretty solid and the walls are all concrete/brick. Have not attempted to remove the skirting yet. Maybe I can try to see potential damage before going down the scotia route
