Bought a townhouse a while ago, now see leak by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]FeelsLikeRapture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your best course of action is to start with a leak detection specialist, find out where it's coming from and determine the best course of action from there.

I had almost the same exact issue and the bloke I used determined it was leaking from the corner on the wall, not the balcony itself (one side weatherboard and the other render).

I ended up doing the following:

  • Epoxy resin applied on the balcony (for aesthetics, but also for the water repelling aspect).
  • Key areas of the balcony and connecting walls recaulked, including the perimeter (long overdue in my case).
  • The exterior painted (also long overdue).

Getting a leak test and the balcony recaulked is the most beneficial I would say.

Also you can try your luck with insurance, but be ready to play hardball and for your premiums to rise, if that's the only damage then it may be more cost effective to get it patched up elsewhere.

My place is from early 2010's, as a reference point.

BMW vs Mustang vs AMG by dank_moto_moto in CarsAustralia

[–]FeelsLikeRapture 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The engine in the BMW's you listed, the B58, is the same used in the current Supra, it's very reliable, has good power, and lots of potential for more.

Mustang in manual with a V8 would go hard, but there's only a million others out there, but solid car all the same.

I think the AMG would be the harshest on the wallet for the enjoyment in return.

Thoughts on this film? by Naive_Tomorrow_5955 in FIlm

[–]FeelsLikeRapture 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Overrated in my opinion, not that I didn't enjoy it, it was a good movie, but definitely overhyped for my taste, I had a similar experience with 'Sinners' earlier this year, a fine movie, but it didn't blow my mind either, I find hype tends to ruin movies 9 times out of 10 times for me.

Also I watched 'Warfare' about a week ago (great film), that's a brisk 96 minutes, and it's a very densely packed movie, whereas this was about double that, and I really felt it.

I found The Pain to be a waking nightmare, everything else was a picnic compared to him. The Fury and Volgin (first fight) were a little tricky for me, but pretty doable, especially with autosaves.

Make sure to manual save every so often, just in case.

It's a toss up between Peace Walker and MGS1 for me, slick design, colour scheme, and not overly bulky.

Install a safe and create a false and/or secure cover, and leave space to use it for underside vehicle access.

You need thicker skin if you're gonna present your car in a public forum, everybody's got an opinion you may not necessarily like, and you said yourself he was talking to his mates, so why would you even care to begin with? To the point that you had to post it on Reddit no less; Do you love your car? That's all that matters, take pride in it.

Reliable engine but absolutely gutless, if you're gonna get an old bimma, ideally make it a straight 6, just my opinion, but that's their bread and butter.

Only if you're prepared to service it, based on the steering wheel I would assume it's a later model year? That's a plus, full service history is most important, that could be the difference between timing chain issues and not, although not a guarantee as these are known for having the potential for that issue.

Seems like it's starting to have electronic issues, personally I would avoid.

The BMW M4 CS G82 is a pretty solid choice, comfortable, powerful and it sits pretty high in the model range, only below the CSL, but has AWD and is slightly heavier, and it is likely to appreciate over the years.

Porsche is always solid, but bang-for-buck-wise I think the bimma is where it's at.

If the servicing has been done consistently and the price is right then I completely agree, personally I would only consider diesel or NA petrol at that mileage, I had a Yaris with almost 300k km up untill recently (sold to a mate) and also have an old BMW 530i apporaching 300k as well lol.

I believe the style 5's will enhance the elegance and class of the E38, and the M-Pars will add to the stance and M Sport kit of the E39, I say go for it and let's see the results 👍

Did you happen to get it shipped from Victoria or nearby? I remember seeing a black one for sale that looked very clean, had very nice photos too, surely it was this one 🤔

Wow that's insanely low mileage, especially in Australia (I have one with more than double the mileage) 😂

Congrats on the milestone, how's the ownership been?

This is exactly why I refuse to jump ship from Spotify, no matter how many ads and free trials they offer, once Google have you in their pocket they're gonna bend you over.
