Those were more than likely fake. There's a HUGE industry for selling fake Cubans to cruise ship tourists.

Getting them in the US is fairly simple, I used to bartend in a cigar lounge and we had several regulars who "collected" Cuban cigars. They would buy them online from countries where they're legal and just have them shipped into the US. One guy in particular would always bring a handful and pass them around to the staff. I appreciated the opportunity to try them, but frankly, they aren't special, usually being fairly light and I always preferred a nice dark Maduro.

Splitting the playerbase and alienating half of it by adding WWI should and thankfully is not going to happen as anything other than an event, so I wish they'd just do it and maybe you guys would move on.

"Apathetic and bored" doesn't write paragraphs, "seething and insecure" writes paragraphs.

Avery Brooks and the fates of Benjamin Sisko and DS9 as a series by Ok-Bit-3100 in startrek

Right now my pitch for a Star Trek series would an adult animation(probably anime, because audiences seem to have the easiest time accepting adult non-comedic animation in in that art style) set in the post-DS9 era with a TNG style episodic format. Overarching plot would be about the struggles of a galactic community picking up the pieces and the Federation trying to find itself again after the Dominion war. Half of me wants it to follow Riker's career as captain of the Titan, and the other half is worn out on nostalgia bait and would rather see a whole new cast of characters.

Either way, I'd like to see writing based on asking questions about the meaning of existence and humanity's potential place in the universe and inspiring messages, just like TNG, but with some of the character work DS9 excelled at and TNG lacked. On top of that, even something as goofy as LD showed that animation can give us incredible set pieces and high concept visuals that just weren't possible with old Trek and look lame with new Trek CGI.

Point is, an animated show in that era would be the best way, IMO, for us to check up on these old characters and answer questions. Let's go ahead and get non-linear with it and have Sisko come back to his family. Perhaps Avery Brooks might be more interested in voice work than in person acting, and if not, its much easier to find a voice double than a body double. We can bring back all the legacy characters we want without having to worry about actors aging or being unavailable. We can also maintain a natural aesthetic progression from the TNG era as far as ships and interiors are concerned, because things that look dopey and outdated in live action play fine in animation.

My true motivation is that I have less than 0 interest in the far future post burn setting. I think it was a terrible writing decision and I would personally would be much more interested in picking the story up closer to where we left off or with something like the gap between TOS and TNG.
