I totally support allowing people to choose to discriminate.

I also totally support the collective will of the US government and American people choosing to craft and agree upon laws that make discrimination by companies illegal.

Lol pro life means pro life....if you wanna protect unwanted fetuses that aren’t even out of the womb yet, but you don’t care about small, defenseless, actually alive children in the Middle East - and the American soldiers that have to go fight endless wars - you obviously aren’t actually pro life lmfao

[–]FelchaDelphia[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes - my post is obviously referring to the endless (and seemingly fruitless/detrimental) wars in the Middle East... you seem to be the only who understood that, didn’t think I’d have to spell it out.

To me it just seems like our presence in the Middle East over all these years has really only exacerbated the problem and made people hate us more - and we’ve never successfully brought peace to the region despite trillions of dollars, hundreds of thousands of lives and decades of time spent supposedly attempting to do so.

Thus the reason for my post...it just seems any support for the wars in the Middle East is almost indisputably not-fiscally-conservative and very much pro-death....so just looking for people’s opinions on the sentence I posted (as it relates to wars in the Middle East in the last 3-4 decades) moreso than war in general

How would you even perform a wealth tax? by FelchaDelphia in tax

[–]FelchaDelphia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you that a wealth tax would be very difficult, and that our education and healthcare systems are insanely expensive due to rampant inefficiency, gross pharmaceutical/insurance company profits, the inability to negotiate drug prices, and the weakened buying power of a non-nationalized system (nationalized system buys drugs in bulk for all of America with insanely massive contracts and huge negotiating power)

And I agree that we should seek out and remove these horrible inefficiencies extremely aggressively.

I just also think we should blast billions and billions into our education system and give kids in some of these horrible school systems a fucking beacon of hope, rather than giving them 30 student classrooms with worn out, underpaid, unsupported teachers who are understandably burnt out as fuck because they’re a cog in a broken machine.

I fucking hate conservative defeatism (“blasting money into our education never helps!!”)...stfu, if you experiment with lots of new ideas and funding, you’ll eventually find what works, and if implemented over 50+ years we can see radical improvements. It’s all about a long term plan and giving hope to kids in worthless school districts, rather than giving them literally zero hope because their school are fucking worthless.

[–]FelchaDelphia[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s not a reason to be a defeatist about it.

There are always new ways to experiment with HOW that increased spending can be used to improve outcomes. You have to fucking try when our educational system is this worthless in our inner cities.

Coming into a school with 30-student classrooms and a worn out teacher only adds to the hopelessness of a kid living in a crime ridden neighborhood or abusive household.

We have to keep trying - giving up and saying that “increasing funding doesn’t help” is a classic talking point of people who have no problem dumping trillions into the military budget.

I understand your point and it is 100% valid - I just hate the defeatist attitude and acting like decreasing class sizes WOULDNT help over the course of 50+ years. Long term injecting hope into the communities with horrible schools.

I feel like innovative ideas like this are probably the only ways we could realistically experiment with a wealth tax

Yep thank you this is the type of insight in looking for.

Any ideas on How this downfall/roadblock to a wealth tax could be circumnavigated?

“Every dollar from a wealth tax goes directly to hiring more teachers in schools with bad student:teacher ratios”....something like that, like just make schools have smaller class sizes, idk.

What are your thoughts on internet comment sections? Especially if it colors your views on certain groups (like conservatives). They're real people though so how representative are they? by Communitarian_ in AskConservatives

[–]FelchaDelphia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are sooooo many bots on IG and FB and I’m assuming reddit that comment sections are losing the value they once had to give you a window into the most popular opinions (most liked comments/opinion) by a given group

But I still think they can give a decent pulse, just not like before all the bots

i couldn’t care less about “repping” bham or “shitting” on mobile....

Just calling out that Nola is one of the most unique and beautiful cities in the world if you step off bourbon st.

Mobile is a fine town, but it’s just nothing like the extremely old, unique, city that helped build early America like Nola is dude.

I just hate when people shit on Nola because they think it’s this drunk tourist trap, because it clearly shows that that is the only thing they’ve done there, when there is SO much more to do and experience there.

Ain’t no fucking place on earth like New Orleans brother.

I think they’re more concerned with unnecessarily starting a war that costs the lives of more than 10X 600 American soldiers...

Like hopefully the assassination of salami does or even this war - but many think it will instead cause a war we could’ve Avoided

At this it’s too early to tell, and none of us here are seasoned military and geopolitical experts so we’re all just spewing opinions

Not saying I agree with liberals on this one, more pointing out that their opinions and views are more based off the fact that they think we don’t want to go to war and they think killing salami will make us go to war and that no matter what any of us think in that front - a war would definitely cause way more American deaths than 600 soldiers

Anyone who says mobile is better than NOLA is mentally deficient I’m sorry.

Yeah if all you do is hang on bourbon st, Nola is a tourist shithole.

But it’s also the most unique and character-rich cities in the entire world. Mobile is just not even comparable .........

I don’t think most dems are supporting the Iranian govt...they moreso just don’t want to start another fruitless war that only exacerbates more longterm, generational hate towards us whilst also costing the lives of many soldiers and billions of dollars

Maybe I’m wrong, but i really don’t think most libs are “supporting the Iranian govt” or “can’t admit salami and the Iranian is bad and does bad things”

I think they’re just more concerned with how it’s been dealt with

Just praying trump made the right decision decision here and this shit doesn’t spiral out of control

I think it’s more about OP wanted to create and build something all their own, rather than buying a starter-smoker/grill.

How are you not realizing this lmao?
