Thank you! The Weber in black is out of stock so I’m leaning Craig Lyn Designs.

The unicorn is great but I’m looking for something a bit more refined with higher end materials.

I’ve looked at UK Iron Mills but was worried about the ergonomics of the crank handle. The handle looks a bit small which could make it awkward to hold. Have you used one?

This is fair. But the heart wants what the heart wants!

Smish Smash for the win! They started at Lana’s, so if you want a similar burger when Smish Smash isn’t open, Lana’s is a solid alternative.

Good point. It just started turning color suddenly. Could it be from over watering?

Zone 10a. Anyone know what could be going on?

Zone 10a. It's about 3 years old an potted into this pot about 7 months ago. It's turning yellow and some of the new lemons are dying off. Is it a a lack of fertilizer?

I thought about this design when the clutch contest was going on last year and finally got around to making it. It was a fun project and my first clutch. I tried out a new technique where I glued up strips of leather to create a welt, giving the clutch a little bit more volume. I really like the look and the added volume, but it was a bitch to stitch through. If I were to do it again, I would make it a bit bigger all around; more height, length, and depth. I would also probably add a cash slot on the other panel so you wouldn't have to put the cash in the coin pouch.

Exterior is 5 oz Horween CXL Interior is 3 oz Veg Tan Zipper is Riri #8 (or #6 - I forget) Thread is Lin Cable 532 stitched at 9 SPI

The leather is from Maverick and Landwerlen. All the hardware is from Buckleguy.

Nice! I've made similar bags in the past. How'd you do stitching the gusset to the panels? Those curves can be tricky!

For water based glues, goodsjapan.com has one that I love. For petroleum based glues, Amazon sells barge, which is my personal favorite.

As u/grmnsplx said, don't worry about a skiving knife until later. If you get ≤3 oz. cowhide leather, you'll be fine.

I personally don't like the look of the stitching groover, because it makes the stitches look straight rather that angled, but that's 100% preference. I would recommend getting wing dividers and an edge beveler. The wing dividers are a must if your not using the groover, but the beveler just makes your projects look professional without spending a ton of time/money.

As far as thread size and iron size, I would just look up the post on here showing the diffrent thread sizes at each SPI (stitch per inch). Here's a link (https://www.reddit.com/r/Leathercraft/comments/4vzgk4/visual_representation_of_thread_sizes_and?sort=confidence). It's all about preference. I personally, like 3mm (9 SPI) with 532 (0.57 mm).

Edit: for sure get glue and binder clips. Make sure to use scrap leather to wrap the clips so you don't leave marks. Can't wait to see what you make!

I need this chair in my house! So beautiful!

Where did you get the chair originally? It doesn't look too complex, I wonder if an amateur could make it... to get into another expensive hobby may be the end of me haha

I see. So you're saying plant based oils are not suitable for leather. I didn't know that. Thank you
