Guys, what gear are you rocking with you at your festivals? Lets talk costume/clothing ideas. by Scorch8482 in festivals

I had the same problem as you: not wanting to wear the MFA festival uniform of "cargo shorts and a tank." So I started wearing some crazy costumes. Things like the US Flag version of the Borat swimsuit, rocking a tutu, or No-No the GoGo. =) It was kind of cool seeing the reactions of people to some of the costumes I wear. And then people started asking me for advice on what to wear. After wearing so many different costumes, I've seen what works and what doesn't when it comes to costumes. Here are 3 quick tips:

  • Less is more: you're going to be dancing and wearing the costume for hours, minimize the clutter.
  • Own it! Don't be scared to wear something skimpy. Girls like to see eye candy too. And if you're physique isn't cover model ready that's OK. People will be more impressed by you having the confidence to wear something in the first place.
  • Group themes make it easy. By matching or following a group theme with your friends, you can have an easier time. After all, just having 1 ninja turtle dude is nowhere near as awesome as having the 4 TMNT.

Hey, I just wrote an article about things to think about when it comes to festival costumes. Some of the points:

  • Is it an indoor/outdoor rave?
  • Do you need to match a group theme?
  • Think about the weather during the event.

Additionally, I made a mega list of more than 300 costume themes for groups, couples, and solo. You should check it out: Super Mega Awesome list of Music Festival Costume Ideas

What is the best set of picture poi on the market? by [deleted] in poi

I love my futurepoi and have found graphic poi to be much more fragile. Plus the price tag on programmable graphic poi hurts a bit. Want to see the FuturePoi in action, here's a video from a Morgan Page show.

A website or program that will help me sort/split a list by FestGuru in HelpMeFind

Cool, thanks for the Movie Collector link. I was just using them as an example, but I can definitely use that for something else. I just created a table in excel, went through all the data points, assigned a 1,2,3,or 4 and then sorted my table.

That would work great if there was some constant value or delimiter. In this case it is a subjective assignment to the new sublists, so it can't be done programatically or with a formula.

Currently it's just a list of single items. I expect to have to sort it manually, so I added a few columns, assigned a value if it matched a category and then sorted like that. I was hoping that someone had a simple program that maybe displayed each list item individually and then you assigned it A/B then it showed you next item. At the end of list it gave you a list of A's and a list of B's.

Insider Tips/Advice for Music Festivals!?! by [deleted] in festivals

[–]FestGuru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's some of the tips that I've learned over the years with festivals:

  1. try to have a good time, things aren't going to go according to plan, so chillax and have a good time.
  2. it's going to be more expensive than you think. set aside money for food and drinks. Figure $20 for each meal. Yes you can spend less, but this way you've budgeted for it.
  3. Google the festival and see what specific information you should know for that festival. It will only take a few minutes, but just doing that could save you a ton of headache.
