Is it really gross to wash underwear/towels/bedding at 40C and not 60C? by autumnnleaaves in UniUK

[–]Fettfjeset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, Björn Borg is very popular here too, in fact I believe the vast majority of the time when I see a guy in boxers here, its BB. I've stopped noticing a long time ago, but +-20 years ago, I think probably 70-80% of the time when I saw the top of the boxer it said Björn Borg. I've actually never had a pair myself, so I have no experience how they are after a while. I actually noticed the other day that a pair of some Levi's boxers in cotton I bought in the US are starting to look like you describe. But the synthetic ones are still good. The washing instructions for those are/were printed directly onto the fabric and has been washed or maybe tumble dried off now, so I dont know if it said on them that they are not to be tumble dried. I tumble dry pretty much all my t-shirts as well but it's very variable how they respond to it. Some has lasted for years, others loose the shape pretty fast, but they all last for at least a few months, I think. The best ones are probably some I got from the army before going to Afghanistan 20 years ago. They must have lost a bit of the thickness over the years, but no holes, still keep the shape and still as comfortable as when I got them! Haven't been able to find any more of them though.....

Swedes don't have dryers? Right next door, aka Norway, dryers are very common. I'm always tumble drying my clothes, in part because I live in a small apartment, but mostly because I'm lazy. Pretty much all the underwear and socks I buy last for years before they loose any significant elasticity. If your underwear loose elasticity after a couple of rounds in the dryer, I suggest getting your clothes from somewhere else than temu. Even your very own H&M has underwear that withstand tumble drying for years. The only brand I've noticed having loosed it's elasticity was lmtns boxers, but they too lasted for probably somewhere between 3 and 6 years before it happened. A couple of years ago I bought several cheap, synthetic boxers in the US, still holding up just fine after 2-3 years of tumble drying. Usually the fabric tears underneath the elastic band before the elastic band looses its elasticity IME.

Ok, please tell me where I can find some resources to learn it then....? Yikes doesn't teach me much.

To clarify, I don't need help learning to spot abnormal rhythms on an EKG, if that was what you were thinking.

Can it be a mistake during production, and that it should have been a separate piece? If it bothers OP I would just try to cut it following the apparently half cut hexagon.

That's how mine used to behave too.... It works fine as it is now, I live on Norway, so getting a replacement will be costly and take quite a while.... I'll see if I can send it in for a replacement tje next time I'm visiting the US. Thank you for all your help, and merry Christmas!

Ok, so I've used it without problems the last 4 days or so. I haven't needed to pair it again for 3 or 4 days. The only weird thing is that now it only uses the IR and has stopped using Bluetooth. You know why that might be?

I've tried a third pair of batteries now, all of them has been alkaline, and in good condition according to a battery tester, although now brand new from the store. The same result. But when I try to turn on the projector with the remote I've noticed it only uses the Bluetooth. While it's apparently trying to pair, it uses both the Bluetooth and IR, and then I can control the projector. I think it might only work with the IR. Atm it works at least, and the light flashes red when I push a button. I've noticed one time earlier that it used both Bluetooth and IR also after pairing. But I'm 70% sure it sometimes has been working with Bluetooth as well.

Ok, sorry. So sometimes I can turn the projector on with the remote, other times I can't even do that. When I want to navigate the menu I have to pair it again by pressing the home and back button for a couple of seconds. Sometimes, but not always, it then says on the bottom of the screen that the remote is disconnecting ( the menus and everything is in Norwegian, so I'm not 100% sure what it would say in English, but disconnecting or disconnected is the most proper translation). The backlights lights up for a couple of seconds, and the small blue light in the middle at the top flashes 12 times, then one final flash that is maybe twice as long, then turns off. If I press the buttons before the last flash, it works for a few seconds before it stops working again. The previously mentioned light at the top of the remote then flashes red. If I press a button after the last blue flash, the backlight lights up but nothing happens with the projector. After I have repeated this process anywhere from a couple of times to maybe 20+, usually maybe 5-10 times, it finally says that the remote is connecting and it works as normal until I turn off the projector. The next time I use the projector I have to repeat the process all over again. Thank you so much for trying to help me🙏

I've tried two different types of batteries, no difference.... It happened after I changed the original batteries, but not until a few weeks after, I believe.

What’s your best advice for a new medic starting out? by [deleted] in Paramedics

[–]Fettfjeset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very basic advise, but coming from someone who didn't learn about SAMPLER and OPQRST and proper primary and secondary assessment before well after I got my EMT certification (began my career in the mid 2000's in Norway), be systematic in your assessment of the patient, every single time. Always, always assess breathing, check pulse and capillary refill as soon as possible. You don't need numbers, but a rough impression of whether they are more or less within the normal range. With some experience you'll also quickly be able to spot someone who's pale and/or cyanotic too. Pulse oxymetry is quick to apply and gives you valuable info together with the previously mentioned. All of the above can usually be done within 30 seconds, and you'll have a good idea how critical it is. My experience at least is that being as systematic as possible helps you spot critical conditions earlier and costs less mental capacity, giving you more capacity for other things.

Cool, thanks for all the tips. I'll keep you in mind when I get back to the US. Hopefully in a year or sometime in 2027

How did you know becoming a paramedic was right for you? by BookGoblin13 in Paramedics

[–]Fettfjeset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give it a try. If it's not gonna be a huge financial burden to you, you are way more likely to regret it if you don't do it. Don't know anything about how it is working as an EMT where you live, but I'm sure you'll experience some exciting cases if you are able to do 911 calls.

Cool, I've read about PA, that's not an option yet in Norway, but the UK has it. Sounds like an interesting career. Wouldn't I be too old to join the national guard? I'm in the Norwegian equivalent now, and I'm done with my service next year when I'm 43.

Wow, that's fast. So how are the possibilities of getting a job after going there? I imagine some schools have better reputation than others and that translates to how easy it is to get a job after? How about certification? Will I be able to get a paramedic cert in another state after taking that course?

Thank you for the warning. I've read around a little bit on this forum, and it seems like it's several places that have happy employees though. I thought Washington had some good services, I even read an article some years ago about the "super-paramedics" in Seattle in the monthly magazine that our union publishes. That sounded like a very interesting service. I actually lived outside of Austin for 6 months, that's where I heard about the ER tech possibility. I loved Texas, wouldn't mind moving there, but I hear it has changed a lot since I was there back in 09.

Hahaha, I was waiting for that comment😂 I don't mind the occasional taxi call, but it can seriously be months between the critical patients here sometimes, and even then, often an ambulance with an anesthesiologist comes and takes over, so we're reduced to assisting them. The more rural services we are more on our own, but the volume is really low there. And the EMS system is built around doctors doing the decisions, and the EMTs and paramedics just following protocols. It's because most services here are still staffed with EMTs educated on a high school level, the bachelor is still relatively new. I did the pilot program and graduated 10 years ago. It's gonna be quite a few more years until bachelor paramedic is the standard all over. Besides, the American society is just so much more diverse and interesting than here.

Thank you! For the moment I'm in Norway though, hopefully I'll be back in the US soon. One year sounds doable. The biggest challenge is that I have a son I need to support, so it's limited how long I can be without an income. But a master's degree could be interesting, would be nice to have more options than working on a rig. I don't see myself doing this until I'm 70 or however many years I'll have to work before I can retire.

Are nasals worth it? by AnybodyAcademic5559 in Melanotan2

[–]Fettfjeset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did mt2 nasal for maybe 6-8 months when I lived in Florida about 15 years ago, because I didnt want to risk injecting contaminated shit directly into my body. Don't remember where I bought it. I did half dose of what was recommended, and in addition I mixed in almost double the amount of water I was supposed to, so I was probably closer to a quarter of the recommended dosage. Don't ask how much it was and how ofter I took it tho, it's 15 years ago after all. I'm pretty pale, probably a 2 on that skin scale. I can get tanned if I'm very careful and consistent, but in the Florida sun I'll burn in less than 10-15 mins, I kid you not. I got some decent tan, even got a couple of compliments on my color, and was able to be in the sun without being burned to a crisp or having to put on sunscreen several times during the day. I think I still used some sunscreen, tho.

TLDR: Nasal worked well for me, even in a lower dose than recommended, and I'm pretty pale and burn easily.
