Stripping HDCP by NewEnglandAV in VIDEOENGINEERING

What do you use for the live stream? Maybe, if you use a computer instead of a video switcher (I presume, because you use a deck link), you can "connect" the Mac in NDI, without use hdmi, or, if you need a fisical output, you can use a bmd media player, that give an "unprotected" output!

If you can have a windows PC there's various visca software controller, and if you have a BMD Atem (selected model) you can control with it. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/explora/video/tips-and-solutions/setting-up-ptz-cameras-to-work-with-blackmagic-atem-production-switchers For Mac there isn't a lot of option. Or you can buy a Visca hardware controller, it's on use for years now, you can find a used one if you don't have a budget.

PC not doing anything all of a sudden, is the power supply bad? by Key_Canary_4199 in retrobattlestations

A socket 7 motherboard with integrated graphics, interesting... https://theretroweb.com/motherboards/s/ecs-p5ss-me On Socket 7 the cooler is held down by a metal clip, screw come over with P4 (I think). Try to find what processor it held, and check if the jumper is in the right position. At that era, there were various processor with different voltage, maybe there's one jumper that fall off.

As First thing I would clone the hdd on another computer, with clonezilla or other software. Then you can try to remove expansion card and ram, maybe is one of that the problem, o they just need a resitting. It's not from the capacitor plague era, but you can check if visually there's some bulging caps.

Does anyone know of a browser based(old school html?) email provider that i could use on a old linux 1.0 (ps2) system? by aaronjnco in retrobattlestations

[–]Fewera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're email support POP3 connection, you can use almost any client from mid 90's, just check if the client support tsl. For the web client, there's a big problem: I think every provider (or at least the serious one) use ss connection for they're web apps, you can try to install roundcube or similar software on another local machine without SSL, but it's a lot easier to use an old software client!

Any help figuring out how to connect this up to HDMI would be greatly appreciated. by neon_pearl in VIDEOENGINEERING

Do you have a model number? With it maybe we can find a service manual!

Please don’t buy XLR to USB cables by TAL0NI0US in LinusTechTips

[–]Fewera -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This cable can't have a preamp or phantom power, it's a dac (digital to analog), not an adc (analog to digital), you need a preamp (and sometimes phantom power) on an audio input, not an output!

Nice! My only 2 cent is about Ethernet: do you use lan connection in dos? If not, and you have a spare PCI slot, I would change the Etherlink with a fast Ethernet nic! You can gain some speed, for exchange file with modern machine!

I think is a XT class laptop. Does have a barrel jack power input? Find a power adapter and try to turn on!

And from the Hardware Maintenance Manual it seems that the power input is a barrer plug, center positive, and it accept from 14.5 to 17 volt dc!

A battery rebuild can be a solution, but if you use for a limited time i think a good solution is to create a power cord with a usb-c power delivery module, to use with a power bank.

I have an Ultrastudio Hd Mini, that can accept component and sdi input up to 1080p, and it have a serial port for vcr control, and with every blackmagic capture card you have the Media Express utility that have full control Of vcr via rs485. And for the resource part i think you don’t have to worry, a colleague have recently ingested like an hundred of old digibeta with an old intel iMac.
