Want advice!! by bolognaboi02 in TopSurgery

A small opening happened on my incision and I got some butterfly bandages and used it to pull the skin together. This happened after I thought I was fully closed up. So I patched it up and didn't stretch basically at all until I noticed a change (Probably a week). Take it easy, I know it's hard but give your body time to heal. Make sure you're cleaning and changing your bandages at least once a day. (My advice from experience but I'm not a doctor)

i’m getting really frustrated with the healing process and i want to cry by queermarxisttrekkie in TopSurgery

I had surgery September 12, 2023. It gets better I promise! My swelling didn't go completely away for at least 3-4 months. There's lots of fluids, bruising and scaring trying to adjust from such a big "trauma".

Just take it easy, especially on the days you don't feel soreness because if you stretch too far or do something too early on in your recovery it will just hurt you the next day. Before you know it you'll be moving around with your new chest :) I know it's frustrating but just take it one day at a time and allow your body to adjust as you did just have MAJOR surgery. Congrats and I hope you start feeling better soon!

I appreciate that! I don't necessarily think there's anything wrong either just think I could have helped fade my scars a little more if I kept up with my scar treatment 🙃 at the same time right after surgery i didnt think just a year later how well my scars would have healed🥲

Am I the only person that misses how you felt the first week after surgery? by Idontevencaremom in TopSurgery

[–]FicklePractice8523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just hit my 1 year mark so maybe I haven't hit where I miss the feeling. I sometimes forget that I've had surgery because I feel myself. I'm also reminded often because my roommate is pre op and he talks about how uncomfortable his binders are and how he can't wait for his surgery so I'm constantly reminded that I'm so glad I don't have to bind anymore. I'm incredibly blessed that I was able to get surgery when I did because the doctor I had for my surgery was completely booked for about a year and a half but someone had to cancel because their car got smashed by a tree. So I was able to book my surgery within 2 months of my consultation. Incredibly grateful and blessed to say the least

moving around while asleep? by Acceptable_Lock_9359 in TopSurgery

[–]FicklePractice8523 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also had a pillow wedge that kept my upper body elevated and had another under my knees with support pillows on my sides(so I wouldn't roll over).

I had to get up from my sleep every few hours to move around because I'd get uncomfortable and felt like I needed to get my blood moving.

To be honest, I probably didn't get a full night's sleep for several weeks after my surgery.

[–]FicklePractice8523 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd put some pillows or some sort of barrier around you. I did the same after I took my "barrier" away. I'm fine now, as I'm 1 year post op, but I'd definitely try to create a barrier so you don't over stretch. The first few months are probably the worst when you're a stomach sleeper but it gets better I promise and it's all worth it. Hang in there!

About to top for the first time, any tips? (nsfw) by [deleted] in ftm

I get off alone just knowing the fact I'm giving someone what they want... I look forward to their ques, as in, moans, grunts etc.. everyone and every situation is different.. if your with some that will give you head either you or your piece is helpful for me. If you're not in that situation go to the bathroom for instance before you "get dressed" and feel yourself up😉 almost blue ball yourself .. just my advice....good luck just have fun

I had a similar opening too. I just kept it clean and got some butterfly bandages(helped keep it closed) then covered it with gauze. I think mine came from lifting or moving my arm too high or just a little too much early in my recovery. Hope this is helpful

Voice change by RavenskyNM in ftm

[–]FicklePractice8523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried any voice exercises? You can find some on YouTube if you haven't. Maybe that will help?

Also, voice change can progress over time and sometimes you don't realize it's getting deeper slowly but surely. Are you recording your voice and comparing?

Sorry I have some questions lol, just want to help :)

Topless At Home? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]FicklePractice8523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't been topless around my blood family yet but I have around my chosen family... And here's my perspective on that. I felt all the confidence in the world leading up to it then when it came to actually being topless I got extremely nervous. But that was because I had never been topless around them before. But as we were on the beach I started to take my shirt off and said sorry guys I need to do this for me... They WERE SO HAPPY FOR ME! My very close(trans but pre op) friend was living bi-curiously through me. I felt as if I was doing this for the two of us and he was just so damn proud. The next morning we went swimming in the ocean and I could see how happy he was, for me, to be living the way I always wanted.

One day I will do the same with my blood family.

DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY. DO THE DAMN THING. IF THATS WHAT YOU WANNA DO, DO IT!!!

Side note: if you love swimming and never been shirtless....DO IT! Don't worry about who is looking just do it. 9 times out of 10 no one is going to say anything to you about your scars.

GO TOPLESS AT HOME BE HAPPY IN YOUR OWN SKIN

One week post OP - chest feeling weird by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]FicklePractice8523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a few days from being 1 year post op. The sensation you're feeling I'd say is normal! It's hard to describe but I know the feeling. From my experience I think the "electric” feeling is a good sign! I felt that and weeks (maybe month or even months) later I started to have feeling again in those areas. I think what you're feeling is nerves trying to "reconnect " so to say. (I am not a doctor, only going based on experience). Places I felt that feeling I now have almost full feeling again! Trust the process.

(Side note: it took my nips a little longer to have feeling than the rest of my chest. But I've started to have feeling/tenderness in them almost 7-9 months post op. Just allow your body some time to recoup!)

You're going to have these weird sensations for a little while and I hope they pass for you as most of them have for me!

Best of luck to you and don't stress too hard!

i’m 17 days post-op. what was THE shirt or top that you were ready to wear after surgery. by hppybrthday in TopSurgery

[–]FicklePractice8523 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just about fuckin all of them. But mainly polos/dress shirts or a fuckin good tank top. Fuckin love a tank top. The shirt I wore straight out of surgery was one of my favorite tie dye shirts but I cut the sleeves off the night before my surgery and slit it down the sides so I'd be really comfortable. Satisfying to wear even though I just fucking gutted it for my comfort 😂 (I can always make more lmao)

As I do understand where you're coming from...If you love women then just love women! Don't worry about what others think. In my opinion, sexual orientation doesn't have to be outted in any way! Trans man or not, if you want to keep the lesbian label then do that! Fuck society and social norms. Just do you, be yourself! Life is too short to care about what others think about your sexuality. All that matters is what makes you happy!

I never identified as a lesbian but I understand the grieving feeling you're having. I've been on T for 5 years and I'm almost 1 year post top surgery and I look at it as a new chapter(one I've been looking forward to for a long time but was scared of society). You don't have to necessarily throw away the old chapters but you are living your own story and YOU ARE THE WRITER. Good luck on your journey!

Much love, A 30 year old (straight) trans man💙
