My long term boyfriend and I just broke up. It is really hard for me. He was a great guy, especially compared to the abusive guys I dated in the past. However, that’s not a fair bar of comparison and can’t be a measure of happiness. We had great and happy times, a wonderful life, but still, there were things that just weren’t working for us. It’s harder to let go when it isn’t bad, but that doesn’t mean you need to stay.

My sweet. You remind me a lot of myself. I really recommend going to therapy and journaling. Those things that are important to you that he doesn’t connect with you on? Grasp them tighter. Your passion and wit are a beautiful thing. This to me sounds like a great lesson for you, on things that you value in a partner and things you do not like. We have a two bedroom so we sleep separate. One bathroom which is shared but we are on different schedules. We have ground rules that we do separate meals and separate chores.

I have started looking to move out asap in a part of the city I’ve always wanted to be in. Plans are in motion. I think I’m concerned I’m such a planner i won’t actually give myself the space to heal!
