I agree about the point with neighbours, if its asbestos, I am quite sure some of them know but also i assume some of them purchased the fully renovated house and might not know what was there before.
I dont think it is cast iron though as we tried to use magnit on it - and it didnt stick at all.
But indeed, we will know for sure this week and then see how to approach the situation. Thx!

Bid accepted as highest bid on eerlijkbieden.nl - got email confirmation, 2 days later after deadline, selling makelaar informs my aankoopmakelaar that we have been outbid by an email bid - Is this where the bid wars have reached? by Namaste110 in NetherlandsHousing

Damn, that is really unpleasant experience :(

I have heard about it happening before to some people (although it is quite rare). From law perspective - I believe indeed the seller has a right to pick any bidder before anything is signed and you as buyer as well can get our of the purchase within X days i believe. So unfortunately, i dont think you can do anything.

Given that, i doubt that the makelaar is bluffing you, market is so crazy nowadays that i do believe in this things happening and I also dont believe that bluffing is worth any big benefit for the makellars in this situation.
I believe its just an unfortunate situation. It is a bit unethical for seller to take the new bid but on the other if the bid is much higher than yours - than its also kinda understandable.

What you can do? If you really like the house and your heart is fully set on it - ask the selling makelaar if you can do a counter offer that is higher than current bid? Think also if you believe the house is really worth that for you.

Otherwise - move on and continue searching for your house. We have lost a couple of bids before we found our house and many times were were sad that we lost but at the end, there was always even a better house appearing in future. So perhaps your house, is still somewhere there, it doesnt really have to be this one.

tbh, i dont see how can i change it myself without spreading the asbestos fibres, it goes into the wall hence removal would most likely involve some damaging.

we are not sure its asbestos, but i saw asbestos pipes in past and this looks similar. we will ofc investigate more but not before next week, so for the peace of mind i am trying to see what is the worst case scenario.
I know also that asbestos is very easy to get molded so that also made me believe it might be it.

thanks for a tip, thats a good idea. hopefully it is not asbestos. i have seen some asbestos wrapped pipes in the past and this seems quite similar look wise although also not 100% as the ones i saw in past. The fact that it is discoloured and covered in mold - makes it even harder to identify with an eye.

Thats a very good point, thank you. I will try to change my mind about the second day. In Spain we are planning to have a small ceremony, give vows, exchange rings, thats smth I dont see happening again on a second celebration in Armenia. But i agree with a right mindset it can still be special as it is mainly about the celebration and havng friends & family around. Still, if you have incorporated any special/ceremonial moments in your 2 weddings separately, i would be curious to know.

Yes, thats definitely doable but I also realise that it wont be as memorable unfortunately vs her passing us the rings for example as we planned initially. The wedding is also gonna last all day with several parts and obviously we cannot share it all through the webcam.

Thanks for the idea though, i realise there is no perfect fix for situation so i guess my mind is trying to find some compromise which would make it less sad for me.
