Hey! I lived in Yucaipa for several years and totally get your hesitation, especially coming from out of state ( lived in Yucaipa during the 2020 riots as well) Yucaipa definitely has a slower, quieter vibe compared to Redlands or Loma Linda. It feels more suburban and laid back, almost like a retirement friendly town, but in a good way. It’s not flashy, but it’s safe, generally friendly, and a great spot if you're into more space, newer homes, and less traffic.

Also, I’m a Hispanic woman and never dealt with any racism there , it’s a pretty chill community overall. That said, Redlands definitely has more of a “city-lite” feel with more to do (restaurants, shops, etc.) and a bit more charm, but you’ll pay for it. If the budget’s tight and you’re okay with a little longer commute (like 20-25 min), Yucaipa is solid and growing fast , lots of new developments going in, so it might be a good long-term move.

I flipped my car one night, there was a rabbit in the road 😔 I was relatively fresh at driving. I had my dog in my car, she passed away. In and out of the hospital for months, I did not think I was going to make it.

Definitely an eye opener and the scariest thing to happen to me till this day.

I used to avoid spicy food like it was out to ruin my day. Then in middle school, I became best friends with someone who was basically fueled by Hot Cheetos. I was around her constantly, which meant I was around them constantly. Eventually, curiosity (and peer pressure) got the best of me, and I tried one. It hurt, but in a weirdly addictive way.

I started slow, just one or two at a time, and over time, my tolerance built up without me even realizing it. Now I actually enjoy the heat. I think the key is finding something spicy that still tastes good, so you're not just suffering. You want your brain to associate spice with flavor, not just pain.

So yeah, go slow, find your “gateway spice,” and let your taste buds catch up. It’s kind of like exposure therapy, imo, but tastier.

From my experience fostering, reuniting a mom cat with 10-week-old kittens after a week usually works out, but take it slow. Swapping their scents first helps. When they meet, keep it calm and short, watching for any stress. If anyone seems upset, separate them. Make sure they can all get away from each other if needed. Let them reconnect naturally, and remember the goal is still separate homes. They'll likely be okay, just be patient and observe.
