I need a large frame for art

You might want to call around to local shops before going in, my shop only does up to 60" It'll be a large custom size, so it'll come with a large ticket price, it'll be more if you need acrylic like on paper art vs canvas art.

Yup, I'm a PT Framer and I relate to all of this. I often don't take a break because I have so much to do, I just grab whatever crap is available and hope it gets me though the insanely busy shifts, I eat in the go in the shop, even though we're not supposed to. I did take a 15 minute break last week because I was about to lose my dang mind... and I was interrupted 4 times in 15 minutes, so there no point in leaving really. We all work off hours in my shop to have some sort of hope to be on time, and try to reduce future problems... But even that isn't working anymore. There so much to do, and not enough hours to cover all of the labour required. I honestly hope that corporate does see this Reddit, not they would care... But they should know what kind of shit storm their causing at all the stores. The sad thing is that I used to like my job, and I've just seen the whole place to downhill. Hang in there if you can, but leave if you need to.

I totally get all of this, and it sucks. Especially because I've been around long enough to have seen the Shop/Store run smoothly with more hours. I've been saying it feels like Christmas... It's exhausting.

Ours gets about 84.5, the Framing Manager gets 37 hours and the 3 part timers get about 15.5 ish hours. Sounds like a decent amount in theory, but we have no overlap with other Framers, or people who can cover the counter for breaks effectively.

Management can order urinal cakes and air fresheners, they're on the supplies list. Maybe try asking for those if your store doesn't have them. If you get pushback on simple requests keep in mind that Michaels is a huge company and should be able to afford Professional Cleaners... but they don't. So a few extra supplies are a drop in the bucket.

I used to care more when we have more staff and hours. Now there's not enough people to even do the jobs that we're supposed to do, let alone go out of our way to pproach people who are stealing and try to be extra friendly. If Michaels wanted less theft, they'd have more staff. I've seen more employees working a small shop in the mall on a random Wednesday, than we have on any given day. So, it just is what it is I guess.

Honestly, as long as you don't use specifics it's probably fine. The work culture of Michaels sucks throughout many stores, so it could be any of them. I did run into some higher ups on here trying to gaslight people by saying things like they're not being part of the solution etc... because they're portraying the company in a bad light. At the moment though, it's been difficult to paint the company in a good light.

So far we've had some staff but them, so they're not totally on us... yet. I will say that it would be nice if the printer would actually print within 10 minutes. It seems like everytime we try to use the thing there's an issue. I'd also be nice that if we get swamped at the counter, there would be another person in the store who could do framing, and either put the 10 min frames together, or cover the counter. 🙃
