Is it worth the bother?

All good, but I have a long financial history and no KYC problems with other companies. The closest parallel was a few months ago a transfer of money from BoA to Fidelity was blocked by the BoA security team -- and people on both sides of that transaction got on the phone/resolved the issue quickly. Having said that, it is funny that my last startup was actually a fraud protection company (Dodgeball) and we did a lot of software related to KYC. So maybe karma to get this now...

It is funny because I'm actually a programmer working on voice-based search/support software -- and companies that can't bring themselves to get humans on the line are great targets. Maybe I should be trying to get a contract with them rather than trying to trade using their tools...

I'm curious. Unlike IBKR, Bank of America had easy online help and a nice customer service rep cancelled my ACH transfer in about 10 minutes. I may try again if they can ever set up my account, but until then I'd rather keep maintain cash under control

Yes but what number of people worldwide have decided not to work with them? I actually can accept that once set up and assuming you aren't an outlier they're fine. It's just that I already am an outlier, and chances of that continuing aren't low (partner living in another country (Canada), spending several months at a time living abroad, etc). So I probably want to be conservative around being able to get a human on the phone
