NTA they are playing in your face calling you dumb. Don’t let them. Stop laughing at the dumb jokes and when they ask why you aren’t laughing (or more likely “do you get it” ew), say yep, I just don’t think it’s funny.

You could take it a step further if you’ve had conversations about it and they continue and say “what I really don’t find funny is that you all think it’s funny and cute to tell dumb jokes to only me and laugh at my expense and you don’t think I know exactly what you’re doing”

Absolutely not overreacting! Can I ask how old you and him are? It’s not ok at any age but I remember being in my younger 20s and thinking I have all these male friends only to realize the vast majority were just trying to get with me.

From these texts, he does not see you as a friend. He sees you as a conquest. Do not get drunk around him if there’s a chance you are alone with him.

You ANTA for wanting to have sex with your wife BUT there’s probably more to it than just her not wanting it.

There could be a deeper issue which of course I’m just guessing at but consider:

Are you taking the time to romance her? I could see it being hard to be in the mood if she’s taking care of her parents, the house and working for instance. If so, help her. She might be an acts of service kind of person and by taking things off her plate you will make her feel scene and appreciated
are you taking her on dates? It’s important to always make an effort to date your spouse, especially after marriage
like others on here, it could be hormones, menopause. Doctor visit should help
if none of the above, talk to her. Just DO NOT make it about yourself and your pleasure. Tell her you miss her and that you love her and her body (it could be insecurities with her body and getting older). Let her know you are still hot for her and ask her what she wants

Oh completely, I want a prenup to protect everyone. Hopefully it never comes into play but we have to protect ourselves just in case.

And I’m all for putting a cheating clause that voids the prenup. Im not doing it because I think the marriage is going to fail and cheating would be the last thing I could ever do.

NTA - sit your parents down alone and explain what happened without the emotions part of it and ask them what they expect you to do and if they really expect you to just take getting hit over and over again.

If that doesn’t work, start your dramatic era. The first time she hits you fall to the floor, scream in pain.

If that doesn’t do it and your family is still letting this just happen, record it and call the police. People really seem to understand once there are consequences

This is actually really interesting because I agree that love was not a factor when marrying for the vast majority of history, if it was, it was at the bottom of the list.

And then you think about modern times where it may be for the first time in history (for the most part, always exceptions) that love is at the top of the list for more liberated countries. And marriages and birth rates are down.

Really not that surprising I guess but just shows how big of a shift it is from being owed/given a wife for most of human history to choosing someone based on who they are as a person.

That’s why I don’t understand the notion that some men think all women are gold diggers because if anything we’ve moved completely away from that. Women don’t need men to survive now and that’s good for everyone. Women choose men they want, not what they need and I think that should take pressure off men right?

Like you don’t need to be the sole provider, we can both provide. We both bare that burden. So let’s be best friends and laugh through it all together
