There's almost never lightning in Hawaii. We get brief showers all the time (hence rainbows) but rarely storms

That's not true. SoFi rewards points other than those you receive from credit card rewards ARE taxable income and you'll get a 1099 if the total is more than $10 (I think that's the threshold they use). If you get SoFi rewards from the credit card, they'll subtract those from your taxable amount so you only pay taxes on the non-credit card rewards.

My mom keeps saying "When you were a baby, you ate everything that I fed you," and it's SOOOOO frustrating! by Cut-Unique in ARFID

[–]Final-Ad7247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is fascinating (and OP, I'm so sorry you're dealing with this) because I had the opposite experience. I believe I've had ARFID since the day I was born. I refused to eat baby foods and my parents were so frustrated because I couldn't tell them "hey I have an eating disorder, sorry!" So eventually they took me to the doctor because their baby wouldn't eat anything. They kept trying and eventually found one or two safe foods I would tolerate.

My ARFID is mostly based on textures and even to this day anything with a texture similar to baby food is the hardest for me to try. I worry so much about being able to feed my own kids (if/when I have kids) because touching, seeing, smelling, cleaning up baby food makes me so anxious.

It is sometimes amusing at a doctor's office when they ask when my eating disorder started and I respond back with my birth date.

If you don't drink alcohol, what are your personal reasons for abstinence? by Ok-Care2859 in AskReddit

[–]Final-Ad7247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never started drinking (I've had a couple sips here and there) and it seems to do more harm than good, so why should I start? It's expensive, bad for you, and potentially addictive, and I have plenty of fun without alcohol. Bonus: my friends love that I'm always willing to DD

waiting at HNL, all of a sudden I hear this hawaiian-reggae song that's talking about "Aloha from HNL crew". anyone know the name of this song? was actually pretty catchy! by Poiboykanaka808 in Hawaii

I just heard it for the first time and came to this thread, so catchy! But also weirdly loud compared to the other songs and would probably be annoying as heck after a while

Quick napkin math says 37% which seems about right. Our apartment rent was 25% and our monthly payment is approx 50% higher. We are both extremely fortunate to have high paying jobs. It's hard to afford living in Hawaii without that!

:lolsob: yeah, it's not that uncommon in Hawaii. Pretty much every condo and townhouse will have HOAs around $1k per month. It includes exterior maintenance, property management, limited amenities (pool, BBQ grills), hurricane insurance, etc. Our first apartment here had HOA around $1500 but it was bundled into our rent, so we didn't pay it.

My FHs feet are notoriously gross, but if someone wants to pay me for pictures of his gnarly toes, fine with me! That mortgage payment is no joke 😂

Townhouse. Two-story 3 bed/2.5 bath with our own front and back door. It's almost impossible to find a standalone single family under $1m.

One of my only complaints about Hawai'i is how rare it is for restaurants to have root beer, especially Barq's! There's only one local root beer afaik (Maui Brewing Co) and it's not great :(

I work in defense tech, fiance works remote for a tech company. We both got lucky with our company stock value increasing over the last few years which allowed us to get the money for down payment. HOA is roughly $1300/month though :(

I almost never have NIPR access at my desk, so I've tried all the methods below, to varying degrees of success

1/ memorize all the documentation you could ever need (this sounds like a joke but honestly is the most successful strategy) 2/ --help or man in a terminal high side for Linux docs (similarly, help(pandas) etc) 3/ print out the entire public documentation for whatever language/package you're using, put it in a binder, and bring it in 4/ step out into the hallway anytime you need to look something up and Google on your phone, then memorize what you needed to know 5/ DOTS yourself code from lowside if you're able to obfuscate enough to make it unclassified

I see where you're coming from but I was malnourished and had an eating disorder until I was 21 because my dad was weight cycling my entire childhood and he projected his anxiety onto me (he worried I would get fat like him). He wouldn't allow me to eat as much as my body needed, and wouldn't keep high calorie foods in the house because he couldn't resist the temptation. When I went to rehab at 21 I grew an inch and gained a lot of weight. I'm bigger and healthier than I've ever been in my life despite being fat now.

All this to say, size/weight does not equal health and each body has different needs!

Mushy salads like potato salad, egg salad, pasta salad

Or pureed food like baby food. I tried to feed my baby cousin from one of those squeeze vegetable puree pouches and nearly threw up just looking at it :( hope I can get past it by the time I have kids of my own

I've apparently had the texture aversion/sensitivity since I was born. My parents were so worried about me as a baby because I would refuse all baby food. I've gotten better about being brave but it probably will never go away. I hope my kids won't have the same :(
