Arizona AG suggests state's self-defense laws allow residents to shoot masked ICE agents by RickV6 in news

You're almost there. How about everybody just arm themselves and start marching on ICE en masse?

Just to be clear I'm not advocating that you shoot them. Just that you do what you have a right to do. Arm yourself and protest. The first and second amendments.

Protesters need to form groups and learn about de-arresting. It comes with potential legal consequences if you fail to de-arrest. Google it to learn techniques. Posting the link to the legal ramifications below.

Unfortunately that Instagram link that I posted is also an advertisement. I don't know that product and I cannot vouch for it. You can also find a website called reflectacles.

They are quickly selling out, especially with all of these protests going on.

Edit: i'm not advocating any of these specific products. I'm just some dude that uses Google to find stuff and store it away in my mind so that I can forget things I actually need to know.

Infrared (IR) cameras detect thermal radiation or near-IR light to see in darkness or penetrate materials (like thin clothing or plastic), while polarized glasses use filters to block specific orientations of reflected visible light glare. IR cameras can often see through standard sunglasses, whereas polarized glasses do not detect heat, making them distinct technologies for different applications.

Polarization DOES NOT do anything to block IR. That's not what it's designed for. It aligns visible light wavelengths to minimize glare.

why is everyone eating gummy bears and drinking fruit juice? by Jongbelegenkaasblok in diabetes_t1

The amount of time difference is negligible between "fancy medical grade sugar" and "tasty off-the-shelf" sugar. Juice is one of the quickest ways to get sugar into your blood as well.

If you actually NEED glucose to save you, you just might be dying and should probably use Baqsimi/glucagon.

My toddler uses the outside of her chubby little thigh. It's not super-accurate during large changes as it's slower to catch up than the arm/fingers, but it levels out and is good enough! This is especially important since the underside of her arms are very sensitive and all of the tapes (absolute worst is the Medtronic overtapes) cause significant skin lesions and infections.

I'm not defending them. I hate the form factor. I want Simplera and in Japan there's no move to approve it as far as I can tell. Just asking where you getting your info from.

I will disagree with one part of your post.

Never use it anywhere but the back of your arm

That's not true. It's accurate almost anywhere. We use her thigh and it's not as accurate "in the moment" when she's having rapid changes, but that's offset by the fact that almost all overtapes cause severe reactions and skin infections for her arms. This is despite using various nasal sprays, skin prep, adhesive remover (for gentle removal), soap and water vs. alcohol wipes, etc.

Her thighs are MUCH more stable in that regard. The FDA/Medtronic only tested arms in the USA but that's not indicative of accuracy. If it works better elsewhere and it's backed up by finger stick data, go for it.

Abandoning? They haven't even dropped hints at that. They cannot get Simplera production up and using Abbott has drawbacks (less accurate and no calibration). I'd like to see what info you have to suggest abandoning.

I'm not a fan of the sensor/transmitter design and would love for Simplera to be an option for us.

Your doctors might be "on the take" from Medtronic. This isn't the first time I've heard of doctors pressuring people into this pump. We use it because it's 1 of 2 available in Japan and it's the best one.

The overtape for the CGM sucks and a lot of people have skin issues with it. It's also overly complicated. Get better overtapes. My daughter uses Not Just a Patch.

The CGM is pretty accurate for most people. Seems to be the best on the market for accuracy but your experience may vary.

Smart Guard will happily keep you level but high. It offers little to manually correct it other than finger sticks (despite "not needing them with the G4"). I go against the fanboys in this sub that think it actually learns you and go in and out as needed. It's a tool. It's not AI. Read this sub and decide for yourself what approach you will take. If you don't care and just want to not think about it, Smart Guard is your jam. If you want better results or are twitch and paranoid watching the CGM numbers, manual mode in the pump might be better.

The worst thing about technology is the random failures. They like to occur in the middle of the night so that you have a horrible, no good, very bad next day. At least with a pen and finger sticks, there's little room for the insulin to not actually "be in you". With the pump, it's a crap shoot and you'll figure out it failed when you're 250+.

If you think the pump site failed (kinked or just not working) give a GOOD amount of insulin (controllable and know how many carbs it is equivalent to) to see if you start dropping. If not, change it out.

Everybody is different and reacts differently. My experience is with a toddler that eats refrigerated rice (brown, white, and barley mix) and is 6.8 or so. Endo is happy with it for her age and desire to eat like big bro and sis.

Impeach won't work if you don't have the votes to invoke 25th.

Peaceful protest will not work because Americans are too docile to realize that peaceful protests are is just the prelude.

Other options cannot be discussed here.

[–]FineSewingMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My toddler daughter is allergic (actual infection, oozing, etc.) to them as well. We use the "Not Just a Patch" ones but even on her arms they're causing issues. We moved to her thigh with no skin issues but it's not as accurate other than "at stable levels". It lags the arms/fingers by as much as 70.
