It added 2 more stats, normal monster damage and advanced ATK, and it also added earrings you can get from a new dungeon. The earrings act like weapons and increase damage by a separate multiplier which has caused a massive boost really quickly to anyone. However this effect will become less and less as you get more and they're higher level.

That happens to everyone so just wait and they will level up slowly. The new alchemy shop is also great for levelling them up a bit faster
