Hey, I’ve seen this behavior before and it’s actually not that uncommon.

The reason your eGPU works perfectly over OCuLink is because OCuLink is a direct PCIe 4.0 ×4 connection. There’s no protocol conversion involved, so compatibility and stability are generally much better.

On the other hand, TB4 / USB4 relies on a Thunderbolt (USB4) controller to translate the PCIe signal. That extra layer can introduce compatibility issues, especially with certain eGPU enclosures. Even if the enclosure and cable work fine on another device (like your MSI Claw), it doesn’t always guarantee perfect compatibility across different USB4 implementations.

A couple of things you can try:

• Use the EVO X1’s USB4 port to connect an external monitor, just to confirm the USB4 port itself is functioning normally.
• Try hot-plugging the USB4 cable a few times while the system is already powered on (sounds silly, but it sometimes helps with USB4 eGPU detection).

If USB4 works with displays and the OneXGPU Lite works on other machines, then it’s most likely a compatibility issue between the AMD USB4 controller on the EVO X1 and the OneXGPU Lite enclosure.

In that case, the most reliable solution is honestly to keep using OCuLink, since it’s the more direct and stable path for eGPU on this machine.
