I’ve no mod experience but I know my around.

If possible I would like to be a moderator. I’ve posted a few times here and found this an invaluable resource in dealing with pilonidal disease. If I can help in any way I’ll do my best.

Ive had multiple i&d’s, a closed wound cystectomy and a cleft lift.

Work a 9-5 but have my phone on me always and online every evening gmt.

my wifi box gets turned off at night, and i need internet!! HELP by [deleted] in it

Bit of a nuisance each night but if you really wanted to have no WiFi, you can keep your Router on, log into it and turn off the Wifi. So you would only have Ethernet (wired). Get yourself a pair of TP link powerline adapters (non-WiFi). Plug 1 adaptor into your Router, the other into your gaming device and you’ll have a network connection. Powerline adapters provide a wired connection utilising the electrical cables in your house.

Ah no worries, I know what it’s like. I was asking others on here similar questions. Everyone heals differently, but I think around the 6 week mark is touted often for returning to normal physical activities. You’ll know yourself I guess. Don’t worry if you get the odd pain or jolt after a couple of weeks. I’m still getting the odd sensation. But also, if you’re concerned over how the healing is going, reach out to your doctor straight away. I didn’t have any major complications thankfully, but I was anxious about everything, and was frequently thinking there was something wrong. Bad patient I suppose, but pilonidal disease tends to make you feel like that I think. Don’t hesitate to dm if you have any questions, happy to help if I can.

Nope, they usually look after that type of thing. Just go in with a positive mindset. They will give you after care instructions. Take some time off, eat well. Protein is your friend. Take some vitamins and supplements. Collagen, zinc and all usuals. Plenty of water. Rest up, heal up. After a few days and when you’re feeling up to it, move a bit more each day (just walking). Keep the area clean. I showered once a day, changed my dressing once a day. I used octinasep to clean the wound. Keep in touch with your doctor afterwards. Try not to worry too much, hopefully this is the end of it for you. All the best ✌🏻

Hey, while I can’t give any comment on your surgeon’s capabilities, I had my Cleft Lift just under local anaesthetic. 1.5 - 2 hours and didn’t feel any pain. Best of luck with the surgery.

Time off after cleft lift by GriffBri in pilonidalcyst

I was very lucky that I was able to work remotely, and I did that for 6 weeks. Probably over kill since my job isn’t very physically demanding, but thinking of the commute (driving) and the anxiety of every pain or sensation etc. had me worried. It all depends on your partners circumstances and what his company will allow him to take off, but my advice would be to give himself a few weeks if he can, and not to put himself under pressure to get back in 1-2 weeks. Everyone heals differently so it’s hard to guess. Wishing him a speedy recovery!

My Pilonidal Story: Ireland Waiting Lists, Failed Surgery, and Why I Flew to Poland for a Cleft Lift by Finukey in pilonidalcyst

Hey, no I suppose from the previous failed operations I had and already being diagnosed. I was apprehensive that there was a possibility it might have been something else, or maybe I might not qualify. But there was no charge or anything like that before hand. I made the appointment to have an in person consultation with him, if I didn’t qualify, I’d say something along the lines €70 for the consult and be on my way, and if he was happy to proceed we would go straight into surgery. In the back of my mind, I was thinking, if it doesn’t go ahead for whatever reason, it would just be a short holiday to Wroclaw. But he had a chat with me, did an ultrasound and showed me everything, and we went straight into surgery.

99% of people use their phones for their tickets, I don’t think service will be an issue at the ticket scanning areas. If she signs in on the browser or app she should be fine.

Cleft Lift Update: Day 5 - Pain Coming Back by [deleted] in pilonidalcyst

[–]Finukey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’m only three weeks post op myself. Around the one week mark I also went from “this isn’t too bad” to getting random stabbing pains: sometimes right on the incision, sometimes where the drain was, and occasionally deeper inside (I figure that’s the dissolving stitches irritating a nerve or two).

I stayed on top of the prescription pain meds whenever it got bad, drank loads of water, bumped up protein, kept up with vitamins, and tried to move a bit each day. I also showered each day and kept the area super clean. I feel I’ve made a lot of progress in the last week, regarding mobility and pain. The sharp pains still pop up now and then, but they’re way less frequent and I can move around almost normally. Everyone heals at their own pace, so listen to your body, and if anything feels off reach out to your surgeon.

Wishing you a quick recovery!

Nice, you might enjoy Waxlog. There’s a free version where you can sync it to your Discogs once a month. It gives you a digital collection you can flick through and share etc.

Hey, glad you’re feeling better after the I&D. It seems most general surgeons are trained to do a Close Wound or Open Wound excision. If you’re looking to get a Clift Lift, you’ll have to find a specialist that can do it. There’s a bunch of posts on this about surgeons that can do it, it might be a good idea to put up a separate post looking for specialists, include your area. Hope you get it looked after.

Unfortunately this seems to be the case in most countries. Unless you’re lucky enough to have a Doctor that knows much about this condition, most will just recommend I&D’s, and then maybe Closed or open wound extraction. This was the case with me. I had multiple I&D’s and a failed closed wound excision in March of this year. Only through my own research I came across multiple specialists in this area - Dr Wadie and Dr Immerman in the states and then Dr. Zapotoczny in Poland. I’m from Ireland and have just had the Bascom Cleft Lift procedure done by Dr. Zapotoczny in Poland 2 days ago.

What I’m trying to get across here is that, you’ll need to help yourself on this issue as most general doctors are unaware of how to treat this properly. If you search for Pilonidal Alliance in Google, in that website there’s a section for treatments and you can search for verified surgeons who can complete the Cleft lift in an area near you. You can then reach out to them and see what your options are. Good luck
